Is anyone else having the issue where the current version of Bambu Studio is running like absolutely dog (word I can’t say, the harsh version of poop)?
It takes FOREVER to load, if I leave Studio open and the computer goes to sleep it crashes. The computer doesn’t even actually have to sleep, Studio can just be minimized for a while and when I go back to it, crash. It’s absolutely infuriating.
I can’t decide if it’s a computer issue or a program issue. I don’t remember it doing this as bad or as often with previous versions, but I also have a terrible memory so who knows. My computer isn’t exactly top of the line, or new, but with 16 GB of RAM and a AMD Ryzen 7 5800H I feel like I shouldnt be having the performance issues I am having (man that statement hits closer to home than I expected)
16GB is going to suffer a bit. BS is a mem hog just like Chrome.
I run it almost every waking moment on my laptop and it’s not behaving like yours is though.
I did use a 16GB machine and have to tell you, it’s probably both. Little short in the specs on the machine and code that hogs mem and doesn’t let it go easily.
FWIW Ultra 9 with 32gb. Graphics also play a part in it as well.
You can always roll back Studio and see if the problems follow.
Have you started the task manager to see the memory consumption of BS and possibly other app’s?
Have you tried to close other app’s like chrome and edge or possibly other CPU or memory intensive app’s to free up memory? There might also be a lot of background processes (collected over the years) that consume a lot of resources. Virus scanners can be one of them.
Does BS behave like this already before you load a project?
What kind of complexity do your models have (does it complain about the number of facets in your model?
FWIW, my system is an I7 with 32GB of approximately 4 years old but never has been slow in responsiveness, but complex and large models might take some additional time to slice (up to 30 minutes in some cases)
I have, nothing out of the ordinary and nothing using excessive memory or cpu. I saw somewhere that someone disabled threading optimization through nvidia and it solved their problem, unfortunately no such luck for me.
It also does not matter what model im loading or how complex it is, the taking forever…takes forever. And if I leave the laptop for more than 5 minutes and it turns the screen off, when I wake it back up Studio will still be open but as soon as I click on it, it closes.
These are my specs i dont have any issues running studio on it , more then 1 million triangles can take a while to slice , with an occasional , not responding , close or wait, after that i can have/leave studio open (because its doing nothing after sending a print ) unless you are constantly slicing plates to print
Yeah, I don’t actually know what was causing the issue with the laptop. Im sure I could have cuddled with it and figured it out, but why spend a few hours diagnosing it when you could just spend many dollars instead replacing it!
The trick is not to play with it while its slicing , otherwise it will just cause it to hang , studio gives a warning message about slicing 1million + triangles, i also believe this is supposed to be 3d orientated laptop but pretty average when it comes to benchmarks . (pinch of salt its a hp)
No, the issue wasn’t just while slicing. It took forever to open the program at all. Add in the fact it didn’t matter if it was a super complex model, or a cube, it still took forever.
Plus that wouldn’t explain the crash after sleep issue either.
But outside of maybe helping someone in the future that reads this, it’s a moot point now as I have a completely different set up.
