Bambu Studio addin a join print in place parts

Hi. First time posting so be gentle.

I tried to print a ‘print in place’ part yesterday on my X1C but once it had finished it was impossible to get the individual parts to move.

I checked in Bambu Studio and found that there was a join between the two parts:

I first thought this was an issue with the STL file I had downloaded so I converted it to a solid. When I loaded this into Shapr3d it recognised the parts as being separate. I was able to save the parts to two separate STLs and loaded these into Bambu Studio and placed them back together.

When this was sliced there was no join:

They printed perfectly and easily moved once finished.

Is there a setting in Bambu that enables print in place models to not be joined, I’ve looked through all the settings and can’t see anything obvious?

My gut instinct is to say it has to do with the “Slice gap closing radius” but wait until someone with more experience chimes in.

You were right.

Reduced “Slice gap closing radius” 0.03 and it slices with no join.

Will bear this in mind for future projects.

Thanks very much.

Glad that I could help. Kinda surprised, but glad, nonetheless.
