I have downloaded the latest greatest beta version of Studio and have a question. I have done beta software for a bunch of years so if Studio blows up on me, that’s on me so no need to comment on that.
What I am curious about is, is there a location to report issues? Other beta software, from other companies they tell where to provide feedback. Is there a page where one can report, file a Github issue, whatever.
Time as Studio launched a problem popped up I want to report but do not know where to report that issue. Not major but also pretty basic.
Turns out there is a BETA TOPIC in the forum.
Click on “All Categories” then scroll all the way to bottom of that page and you will find the Beta category at the very bottom. It is pretty well hidden and no one appears to use it, but it exists.
I’ve had a Github account for many years and have submitted issues to other developers in the past.
Having submitted BL issues in past.
For me as a user, it looks like a developer with software in Github, that developer can configure the Issue tab as very basic up through very complex.
Opting for a complex Issue process is great if your target audience is other developers. Not so much if your target audience is 20-Somethings with a printer in the spare bedroom.
Im in process of writing up my issue but being that my issue was the installation of the new beta and not the app crashing mid-process I need to do some digging to figure the correct files requested.
This is apparently for people participating in firmware beta programs where one needs to actually sign up for the experience. Or at least ostensibly… I have no idea if it actually gets used (never signed up for a beta).
Folks are free to post Studio issues in the forums here of course, and some beta versions even get their own announcement here, but ultimately if one wants actual BL developers to see the issue, GitHub is the way to go, and what BL support recommends/requests. I have never seen a single response here from a BL developer, as opposed to the GH issues. The forums are more for announcements and user-to-user support.

I’ve participated in this beta program for a while and I have participated in others outside of BL and if nothing else they help me see what’s coming. I’ve never had a beta blow up in my face.
I always look at beta testing as they’ve got 99% of the kinks worked out but the owner of the software is looking for edge cases. Every person on the planet has a PC, Laptop configuration that is unique to their machine and no other because the software and that software’s settings are unique to them. So at some point the developer has to put it up for public scrutiny and thats beta testing.
