When slicing models in Bambu Studio, I sometimes notice an unexpected shift in the outer wall on completely vertical, flat surfaces. Even though there is no such thing in the model.
It seems to happen right after a solid layer is introduced – which I assume is related to the slicer compensating for a change in flow. However, this results in a visible line on the actual print, which defeats the purpose of the compensation in the first place.
Does anyone know why Bambu Studio introduces this shift, and more importantly, how to disable it?
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum.
How many walls do you have enabled? Unfortunately the forum is having issues with .3mf files I I can’t download them to check. I’ve seen weird slicing like this with high wall counts. Does reducing the wall count help at all?

This ‘feature’ can appear from time to time and is a slicing bug of sorts.
Sometimes it is enough to disable the ‘detect thin walls’ feature but at other times one has to get more creative.
Another tripping hazard here can be the hole compensation.
It should be a great and usable feature but the current algorithm is quite flawed.
Let’s say you set 0.17mm here in order to make a 5mm hole come out at 5mm.
Then this also means the same ‘correction’ is applied everywhere else with a hole or opening.
Like in your image where the flaw perfectly meets the top of the hole.
If in doubt set the hole compensation to 0 and do required fixes in the CAD programs by considering required tolerances and FDM limitations.
If the first won’t fix your issue then the second SHOULD, just give it a try…

Yeah, I found out through Reddit that it was the hole and xy compensation.
I just think it is weird that it doesn’t just compensate the hole, but all layer lines at the same height are also compensated.
Seems to me it should be possible not to have this issue.
But yeah, optimizing in CAD is probably the best solution.
Thanks!
