If I missed it please show me where it was, but I haven’t seen an explanation for why one would want to use some of the process profiles in bambu studio. Clearly it goes from low layer heights to large, and the strength profile adds perimeters and infill density.
Why is 0.16 height labeled as optimal? I would expect the 0.2mm “standard” to be “optimal”
What does draft and extra draft mean for 0.24 and 0.28? it doesn’t look like any draft or taper is added to the walls.
The default processes (aka presets or profiles) are just a few combinations of settings provided for your convenience. It is similar to the default themes of a word processor - combinations of paragraph styles and formatting. The names are subjective, you can change the name to anything you like and save them as User presets.
All of the variables contained in a process can be changed and saved as a new User preset. I don’t usually want brims and prefer a gyroid infill, so I change those options before saving as my new “Standard”
Short layer heights can provide greater detail, at the expense of speed and usually less strength. Taller, “Draft” heights will print faster and stronger but may not show small features.
Besides layer heights, there are other differences between the default processes. The easy way to see all the differences is to use the Compare Presets button at the end of the Process line:
This will show you only the settings that are not the same:
