Bambu studio release

There is a lot to read

This will be huge if it works well

Make sure to switch / enable developer mode , it does look interesting , yes

Utter garbage version on macOS. Skip this version if you want to actually print anything from a mac.

How is it garbage? It would be useful if you explained why you would suggest not downloading this version.

The live camera view on the Device page now supports mouse wheel zooming.

Anyone have this working on MacOS? It is not working for me on an Apple Magic Trackpad.

It hangs after basic user interaction.

e.g.:

  • start it
  • open a 3mf file (e.g. downloaded from makerworld)
  • click on the ā€œslice plateā€ green button on the top right of the window
  • hang

Various other user interface parts do the very same. Sometimes requiring a force quit,

I already submitted it as a bug, but it’s so easy to trigger these hangs that any actual testing at all would have caught them before this got released. [Having worked in the software industry: I know first-hand about arbitrary deadlines that take precedence over quality, or even a finished product]

I have not installed it yet. However, I did look over the notes for the update (keeping in mind your warning) and have noticed this:

Known Issue:

  1. The macOS 27 Beta network plugin can now be downloaded normally and supports cloud connections. However, users may be unable to connect to printers over LAN. This is because the current configuration may trigger a permission issue on macOS 27. We are working on this issue and will fix it in a future release, when the final release of macOS 27 is public

  2. On macOS 27 Beta , after switching filament mapping in the send-to-print dialog, a white floating window may occasionally appear. Re-selecting the same filament slot resolves the issue.

  3. On macOS 27 Beta, Bambu Studio cannot exit full screen after the window is maximized. You can use the shortcut Command (⌘) + Control (^) + F to exit full screen as a workaround.

Is this by chance what you are experiencing, or are there additional issues? I am thinking about just downloading and keeping both versions but appreciate having a heads up regarding the possible issues I could experience. I am still on Mac OS 26.blah.blah.blah.

Coming for a software/driver QA background I concur with your thoughts on release deadlines. I can only offer one data point to the conversation as I am not experiencing these issues on MacOS 26.6.1.

I did read those. But I’m not using macOS 27 Beta (still on the latest non-beta of 26), so it’s none of those.

It really is basic user interaction where the software hangs on, and it does so repeatedly. Sometimes it can be recovered by random clicks, but then the next few hangs lead to a hang that needs a force quit. So there’s work for the folks at BambuLab before this is production ready IMHO.

Granted the previous version was not without issues (e.g. recovering from the mac sleeping often led to a crash, but at least you could press the buttons on the screen.)

While installing: keep both versions. You then get both applications (the last installed version with a " 2" added to the name). But that might not make it more stable in itself as the dreaded network component seems to be different between the two.

FWIW: my printer is (and always has been) in LAN-only mode - in fact it’s never had any internet access at all - but it can talk to the printer just fine - it’s just some parts of the user interface that are failing miserably..

Does the green ā€œslice plateā€ button work for you ? Cause that one seems to systematically trigger a hang for me. [If you click about a few times, it sorta recovers - but becomes more unstable in the process - and that’s led me to a few force quits before I called quits on this version]

The ā€œSlice Plateā€ button does work for me. I have sliced several plates on the new version and I am currently printing one. Have you tried loading a different model? Maybe the new version doesn’t like something in the model, or the specific slicing settings for that model.

edit: You said the printer is in LAN only mode (so is mine) and never connected to the internet. Is the printer FW up-to-date?

Anyone else have this upgrade break their ability to zoom in/out with the mouse wheel?

I’ve gone into ā€œPreferencesā€, ā€œ3Dā€ and made sure ā€œZoom to Mouse positionā€ was ticked, no dice. Toggled it, no dice, togged it, restarted, all combinations of the above. No Dice.

I deleted the app cache’s, no dice.

Scrolling the mouse wheel up/down simply moves the build plate up/down. Aside from deleting the slicer entirely and reinstalling, anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks.

Printer is up to date on firmware. It’s a H2D Pro and it’s on 01.02.00.00 - which is the latest at Professional Dual-Nozzle 3D Printing Solution | Bambu Lab

Tried multiple files, both generated by OpenSCAD and from makerworld.

Deleting Bambu Studio, and reinstalling 2.7.1.62 solved my non-zooming issue.

It’s broken with me as well with my trackpad where I used to slide 2 fingers up and down to emulate the scrolling of an actual mouse to zoom. My workaround was to go to mouse settings in windows and select Ā« pinch to zoom Ā» instead so I guess the scrolling to zoom on an actual mouse is broken as well…

I have downloaded and installed Bambu Studio v2.8.2.60 on Mac OS 26.6.1 and so far don’t seem to have any issues. However, I am using the cloud to print and I have a trackpad so it is possible that I am just not able to recreate any issues others are having at this time.

Yep, lost the ability to zoom in and out as soon as I upgraded. Going to see if I can find the old version, delete the 2.8.2.60 install and reinstall the previous version. Running the Windows version on a Windows 11 system.

It comes and goes for me. Sometimes scrolling the mouse wheel would just pan up and down, sometimes it would zoom.

I will wait for a few more weeks. What I currently have works.I will keep reading the forum untill I get a GO from EXPERTS.Thanks
