Hi, I have been getting a lot of lag and crashes with Bambu Studio.
The issue I have the most is when I slice a model and go from the ‘Prepare’ tab or ‘Preview’ tab to the ‘Device’ tab. My Bambu Studio lags and even crashes. I’ve had this issue for half a year now, and I finally wanted to fix it! So I contacted Bambu Support and asked for help!
This is what they gave me:
- If you use an NVIDIA GPU (Windows):
NVIDIA multi-threaded optimization can cause Studio to crash during heavy operations like slicing or UI updates. Disable it for Bambu Studio:
Open NVIDIA Control Panel → 3D Settings → Manage 3D Settings → Program Settings. Add Bambu Studio to the program list. Find Threaded Optimization and set it to Off. Apply and restart Bambu Studio. If you’re on a laptop with both integrated and NVIDIA GPU and also see crashes when using the camera/online video, set Studio to use integrated graphics in NVIDIA Control Panel instead.
- Check CPU overclocking / multithreading (Windows):
Instability from CPU overclocking or aggressive multithreading can also cause crashes during heavy operations.
Temporarily limit Bambu Studio to fewer CPU cores via Task Manager → Details → bambu-studio.exe → Set affinity and select only a subset of CPUs (e.g., CPU 0–3). If you use Intel overclocking tools, try reducing the overclock as described in the guide.
- Very heavy models can slow Studio overall. Large, high-triangle models can make Studio slow and increase the chance of freezes/crashes. Use Simplify Model to reduce triangle count before slicing. Right-click the model → Simplify Model. Use the sliders to reduce triangles, then apply.
For me, option 1 helped, and now my Bambu Studio app works like new! If anyone has issues with performance in Bambu Studio, just contact support and they will help!
Hope this helped some people! Thank you and happy printing!
