Bambu Uni Shipping and other issues (a rant)

I’m here to rant — but I’m ranting from a position of admiration for Bambu Lab. I’ve owned P1S’s, AMS units, and now an H2D, H2S, and AMS Pros. I’ve gone through tons of filament and constantly upgrade nozzles, plates, and accessories. I spend a lot of money (and points) in the Bambu store. But I’m starting to see a pattern of failures that’s becoming a real concern.

What set this off is the shipper Bambu is increasingly using: “Uni.”

I’ve watched my packages bounce from Florida to Arizona while I’m sitting here in Texas. I’ve seen one go California → Dallas → Arizona → Houston. The tracking info is a mess and doesn’t convey anything useful. My doorbell cam has caught Uni drivers tossing packages, cutting through my mulch beds, dropping the box, snapping a photo, and then leaving a business card for a car detailing service on top of it. Enterprising? Sure. Appropriate? Not even close.

Now Uni has flat-out failed to deliver my latest package — bearings and filament I’d been waiting on for a while because the bearings were out of stock and I needed them to finish a project. I got the “delivered” email, walked outside (I was home the whole time), and… nothing. Checked the email more carefully and saw the delivery photo was someone else’s house — not down the street, but a different neighborhood, miles away.

I contacted Uni immediately and asked them to call the driver, since I caught the mistake within minutes. Nope — chatbot. Now I have to file a formal complaint, provide “proof,” and wait. Their response email reads like they’re assuming I’m lying, and they’ll get to it within five days if I’ve followed their complaint procedure correctly.

Five days. To investigate their own mistake. Are they so overwhelmed with delivery errors that this is the standard turnaround? Because that’s what it looks like from the outside.

I never had problems like this when Bambu was using UPS or USPS — and that’s saying something given the state of USPS lately. There’s also that YT outfit shipping out of the Northeast that isn’t much better.

And honestly, Uni is just the symptom. The pattern is what worries me:

  • Bambu seems to be defaulting to the cheapest, lowest-quality shippers available.

  • The MakerWorld points system keeps shifting in ways that feel less generous each time.

  • Software and firmware updates feel slow and overdue for a real overhaul.

  • There appears to be a recurring issue with the H2 Z-axis guide bushing.

  • My brand-new AMS 2 Pro needed the air valve, main board, hub assembly, and stepper motor replaced. On a new unit.

  • Filament is constantly out of stock.

  • Complaints online seem to be trending upward, not down.

  • (Edited: Oh, and I forgot about a TC nozzle I ordered with 1 roll, didn’t get the nozzle at all! And they threw the filament in a large box with zero packing material, so of course the filament broke loose from it’s box, fortunately the vacuum stayed in tact. It came from California warehouse. Since there was no packing material you could tell the nozzle was missing from the shipping weight deduction.)

Has Bambu forgotten the standard they set for the 3D printing community? Because they set that standard. They earned a reputation by being better than the alternatives — better quality, better support, better experience. That reputation is what made me a repeat customer. It’s also what’s making this slide harder to watch.

Maybe I’m reaching. Maybe this is just a rough patch. But for now, my hope is that someone at Bambu reads this and has a serious conversation with Uni — and takes a hard look at where the rest of this is heading.

YunExpress….the North East one - holy cow you better not have allergies to perfumes if you get a package from them in my town. Smelled like the counter in an old woman’s department store. I haven’t had any failures with the last mile (GoFo) but I do have hope they either get their act together or companies will switch back to more legacy shippers. I wish they would give us an option on speed and carrier, it’s not that hard. Its always some random person in a car driving up and tossing the box out.

The filament is worsened by the fact you have new users who stick with Bambu, and they have to build up their filament shelves. If everyone had to buy say 40 rolls of filament (colors, types) and all the AMSs to put them in you’re going to see this happen. Then there is the discount: If you’re going to buy a roll of discounted filament, you’re likely going to get 9 other rolls to max the discount.

The issues with the AMSs feels to me like QC issues due to the shortage of units and perhaps they spun up another line to catch up? Too many issues popping up. Could also be just more users which means more of only the negative responses.

Im still on the fence about the bearing issue and if it’s widespread or early machines. Mine is Dec 2025 and I have not had that issue “yet” and curious if I will.

Here in europe with DHL no problems so far

Last delivery I had with GOFO, my package showed up wreaking of pot.

I had to immediately unpackage everything and throwing away all the cardboard just for the smell to go away

The guy was hotboxing his car while delivering packages

Ill see if I can find the ring video

My last delivery was UniUni and it showed “Out for delivery” for five days, then I got an email saying they had tried to deliver 3 times and my business was closed so they were returning the package to the factory. I am home all day, at the time I had a fellow doing yard work and he was here all day for that full week, and its a residence not a business, all they had to do was put the package on the porch.

The lack of delivery ETA is what bothers me, but with a business model like Uber they don’t know when a driver will accept the package . My very first experience with Uni Uni was a package from AliExpress. It was delivered on a Sunday, 15 minutes before midnight and not left at the door to my individual apartment, but rather to the apartment office with the delivery photo being the office door illuminated by car headlights. By the time I saw the e-mail it was the next day and the apartment office staff said there was no package when they arrived to open. They left the package in the one place that no apartment windows can see, and where the headlights of everyone coming into the apartment complex lights up – making a package just sitting after midnight scream “steal me.”

Makes you wonder how much money they are saving by using these carriers. I have started looking for other sources for my needs just because of the shipping.

This is why I want to choose carrier and speed from any e retailer. You want to encourage free shipping by upselling the cart to get it fine but I should still be able to pick outside of that. I don’t have any issues with USPS, UPS or FedEx but I’m in the minority there. I do have issue with a lack of choice but it is what it is.

I agree, give us a choice of carriers and delivery options.

100%. The thing is, that used to be a common thing. During the checkout process you had a drop-down or radio button choices between carriers and costs. I think the issue today is that there is such an expectation of “free” shipping either universally or when crossing a dollar threshold and so if a company isn’t passing through the exact cost of shipping based on the carrier of your choice and instead it’s just factored into the price then using the lowest cost option makes the most sense for a company.

There are lots of studies that show the benefits of “free” shipping – even for a site like eBay where you can sort by price+shipping so that you are comparing total cost to your door, people still use the filters to select “free shipping.” So, as you said … it is what it is. /shrug

When it comes to DHL, my friend: Unfortunately, the last few packages from Bambu Lab didn’t arrive via DHL, but rather via DPD—and they aren’t any better. All three printer packages were simply left sitting in front of my house one evening, clearly visible from the street. When I checked the tracking status, it claimed the packages were supposedly still in Augsburg. In other words: They were already at my home, even though the tracking system still indicated they were at the DPD depot. I have similar experiences with Amazon. I also source some of my filament from Amazon—primarily colors that aren’t available in retail stores. The Amazon drivers are the worst offenders in this regard. My packages are simply left lying around somewhere on my property, or I regularly have to argue with Amazon because packages get tossed around and my spools get damaged in the process; consequently, I have to respool my filament onto new spools very, very often. :frowning:

In the same way, Amazon Prime customers should still comparison shop. Often, I’ve found that the Prime price with “free” shipping is higher than the non-Prime total, especially for low-cost items.
