Bambulab Studio prints over its own calibration lines!

Case in point:

printover

This came about while printing the base layer of a flush bucket (Printables). I saw no indication while positioning the flush bucket prior to slicing that it might be printed over Bambulab’s calibration extrusions.

How exactly do I avoid this from happening in the future?

The slice preview should show the calibration lines and if it would have been under the object.

Thanks! I overlooked that.

Meanwhile, maybe it doesn’t even matter? The X1C seems to have paved over it no-problem:

I think this is intended but sometimes not wanted as for example the included bed sheet installation tool gets printed over the calibration lines if you enable them and then the bottom flat surface is not only no longer flat, but you might actually rip off the bottom layers trying to remove it (ask me how I know!).

There is also an option under “auto arrange” that has a check box to avoid calibration lines.

Sadly, that option gives no error when it doesn’t fit without interfering. Just pay attention when slicing (says the one who just almost printed part of a model head in air!)

The effective print area is less than 257mmx257mm when you take into account the purge and the calibration printing. Not a big deal, unless you’re printing something that pushes the boundaries. Maybe then it is a big deal.

I printed an object that needed the entire plate area. I simple removed the calibration lines after it used them for flow calibration. Worked fine.

How? Did you pause the print while you removed them, or some other way?

I just carefully reached in and pulled them off while it was busy after the flow calibration getting ready to print. I wasn’t sure where it was going to start printing and wasn’t sure if pausing before it started printing was a good idea. Anyway it worked fine.

At least so far in my limited experience, pausing prints and then resuming them later seems to work without a hitch.

Yea which is a good thing in my opinion. It offers you more of your build plate. Also I have never had a problem if my print overlapped the calibration lines. The only thing you will notice is that it will be imprinted on the bottom but thats not a huge deal to me.
