If I put remnant rolls of red in slots 1 and 2 in the AMS and both run out, I should be able to add more red to slot 1 and press retry rather than needing to put the roll in slot 2.
I forget the exact wording of the prompt on the printer but it essentially asks tells you it ran out and to add more. However if both slot 1 and 2 ran out it’ll only continue working if you add more to slot 2 as that was the most recent to run out. If they’re both set to the same filament, I should be able to add more to slot 1 (Or both), and it start from slot 1 again.

This will work as you expect if slot 1 is refilled before slot 2 runs out. The “Auto Refill” option only triggers where there is an available loaded second spool to swap to. If all suitable slots become empty, then it does not trigger the “auto refill” code, and instead triggers the regular filament runout code, and expects the last slot to be refilled.
Also not sure why this is an issue, as slot 2 in your example is also empty, so just load it there, it makes no difference, the printer will be telling you which slot was the last to run out.
