Beam Interlocking creates strange artefacts

Hi,

I have a two-colour print which would really benefit from beam interlocking. However, when I use it, I get strange artefacts on the outside of my model (in an area that only has one colour)

I’ve included some screenshots, some with interlocking and without, as well as the setting when it creates the artefacts.

Used software: Bambu Studio. Model is two STL files overlayed on each other to use colour

Check your geometry in that area to make sure there’s nothing wrong with the STL.

Try rotating the parts by 90º to see if the artifact remains.

Rotating did not help, although the artefacts changed based on the rotation. I can’t see anything wrong in the model itself. I modelled in Onshape and it’s a perfectly circular shape.

It did however disappear (for now?) after I tried using a negative part for the white bits (which did not work as the negative parts is always after all positive parts, it seems). So after a few changes which in total should not have changed anything, the problem is gone.

Hmm, the artefacts disappeared because I had misaligned the two models relative to each other, so there was some black in the white sections. Once I had properly aligned them again, the artefacts are back

where would I report a bug for Bambu Studio?

The best place for bug reports is Github:

First, check through existing issues to see if the bug is already reported, then add your experience if it has.

New issues will require details, logs, project files, etc. Make your report as complete as possible.

There is no guarantee that your bug will be fixed quickly, but the developers do pay much more attention to problems reported on Github than to complaints posted here in the forum.

Long overdue update: I simply solved it by designing a locking bar into the model that will connect the fragile parts inside
