Bed Strain sensor question

Hello All,

I am curious if there is a way to reset the strain sensor value when the build plate is removed. Reason being is I designed a Mic-6 add on plate to fix my warped bed issue and its total weight is 2.5lbs. i wad no idea the machine used a strain sensor to set the Z axis. I figured it monitored motor current spike which would have worked in that case. The issue is that the sensor is likely at the end of its limit with the new heavy plate and pops an error when homing saying the sensor is too sensitive. If there was a way to recalibrate it to a new starting value with the Mic-6 bed on then that will fix my issues. Or perhaps another work around?

bed fits perfectly and will work well if I can get around this issue? My 3D printed test bed homed fine but did not have the weight to trip the sensor…

thoughts?

I tried the calibration but that did not work. I may try tge factory reset to see if it works. Is that option in the printer control panel?

Unfortunately the factory reset did not work. It said the strain sensor was too sensitive again… Anyone have any other ideas? I am a bit too busy to tear into the build plate right now but curious if there are phots of where and how the piezos are installed.

I found this: Replace the Heatbed Sensor Unit / Heatbed Piezo Interface Board | Bambu Lab Wiki

I wonder if loosening the preload knobs a bit would help. Or stronger springs to offset the load a bit. Anyone try this?

Looking at the images and now after pulling it apart, I bet I could design a flexure plate that gives a bit of added support for the added continuous load but still allow it to deform during leveling. I tried loosening the bed nobs and now I get a continuous load error on Sensor #2 which is the one in the back.

I will pull out a sensor and measure the mounting holes to design a support plate. Or perhaps an oring or foam pad to rest on the existing sensor covers to back it up a bit

Thanks Nebur,

I will try this. Do you have a link to the spacer? I will download the spacer and try it tomorrow.

My plate design is a bit different being made from Mic-6 but same thickness as theirs at 5mm. Also just to try I had a 6061-T6 version machined as well. 7075 was more than the Mic-6 so did not bother with that.
I was able to trick the sensors and get it to print but hopefully the spacers will remove the error.

Thanks for the help. will repot back.

Marc

Yes sorry I noticed that just after I posted my message. They are printing now will see if it helps

Did you try the spacers?
I’m trying to figure out what ‘wheel nut’ needs to be removed. Any advice you can share on where/how to get the spacers put into the correct place?

thanks

Yes the spacers worked and im using the Mic-6 plate and its working well.

Great! You added spacers where I indicated in the JPG, yes?
