Beeps very loud

Through the first few kilos of PLA on my brand new A1 mini.
Everything is good. except the very loud beeps when it needs attention.
Dont get me wrong, I like the beep, it draws my attention when needed. But does it have to be so darn loud?
Long print ends in the middle of the night. Whole family thinks the firealarm has gone off…
Beep level doesn’t seem to be configurable, leaving be with 3 options:

  1. no beeps, then I wont hear when it just ran out of material
  2. no beeps from the machine it self, but I can probably pull some status from the API. might be a bit involving though…
  3. open the machine and stuff an old sock into the speaker. will void warranty.

I have a laser scanner I use at work that beeps loudly. To stifle it I put tape over the little speaker port. If there is something similar on the mini then you could try that. Sound has to be popping out somewhere.

ok, I tried to locate the speaker. but is seems nowhere to be found. Watched several hours of tear down video in hope of seeing it. but no…

Anyone know where the speaker is located on the A1 mini?

Well I’ll be. Learn something every day.

You could say the same thing about me and anything on the TacoBell menu… no seriously I didn’t know this either and it’s pretty awesome.

Anyone remember the 1541 floppy drive for the Commodore 64? I had no idea they would actually use the same approach in a commercial product 40+ years later :see_no_evil:

If you check the start and end G-code in Bambu Studio you can find the commented gcode sections for this.
