Benchy Remixes are Exclusives?

I somehow missed that. So remix away. Yes, I say remix, because if one starts with the step file, it’s a remix.

In my view, MW can allow remixes to enter into this Benchy remix contest. All it takes is a simple coding change to make that happen. It shouldn’t allow, let alone asking, remixes be uploaded as originals. Someday someone may link their models on Makerworld to another platform, these remixes will be ported over as orginals. It messes up the definition for the industry. MW shouldn’t have and take discretion in changing the industry defiinition.

Can a remix be an Exclusive? MW can take discretion on this because it’s their own program. But is it a good practice?. For some small gain on the number of exclusive models, MW breaks its own rule on remixes being ineligible. This undermines the respect for the rule. Now people who want to break this rule and other rules can justify their actions by telling themselves “yes, it breaks the rule, but MW did it too”.

For me it’s just ridiculous. Models with the most downloads are still considered exclusive. I understand that less popular models, despite their originality, may be treated differently and get a penalty for violating the bambulab exclusive model rules. But those with more downloads and more popular ones, no? It’s clearly double standards or an error on the part of the creators of the contest. Which doesn’t change the fact that in one or the other case everyone should be treated the same.
