Hi folks, I’m getting big blobs at the start of my prints on one of my two X1 Carbon printers. I’ve cleaned both the print plate and nozzle as well as run the calibration utility several times. Running generic PLA, same as this printer’s sibling that’s running great. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Hi.
- Switch the extruder with a working one. If it works, rebuild the faulty extruder or order a new one.
- try a different spool
- mechanical maintenance;
P.S. This can be severe if the blob sticks to the nozzle.

Thanks for your thoughts, JayZay. Yes, I’ve had several severe blobs prior to this one. Will give switching out the extruder a try. Best regards, ~Steve
Are you sure that’s a blob? It looks like part of the print got caught on the end of the hotend and it kept printing unattended.
