Funny s.h.1.t… Wondering how long and how much filament it took them to get this “bright idea” up and…swimming

I’m thinking long and a lot.

Yeah, I saw that video pop up in my feed. My first thought was: anything for clicks. Clearly, this is a rich kid whose parents can afford to send her to Clemson. It’s unclear whether that workshop is at the university or her home. I’d wager it’s at the university, given the number of AMS-equipped printers and ample stock of spools.

To answer the question: how much filament? Based on this photo, each shelf can carry a stack of 10 spools, 5 columns wide. I can’t tell how deep the shelf goes, but it’s clear that it’s at least 2 rows deep. That means each shelf can hold 100 spools. So, from the onset, it looks like there are roughly 250 spools on hand, and if we assume bulk purchases, that comes to roughly $4,000-$5,000 worth of filament in the shop area which is what leads me to believe this is more likely the University workshop, not her home.

I love her opening line: The old saying: “You don’t want a boat, you want a friend with a boat… well… what if you don’t have any friends?” Obviously, she’s making fun of her nerdy self because she has at least one friend who gave her a lot of support. Here’s his 3D Printing YouTube channel, he appears in the video. https://www.youtube.com/@BuildDanielBuild
