BIGTREETECH Panda Branch

So I just installed my BIQU Panda Branch to my P1S printer today. I noticed that it has (4) MX3.0 2x2 pin out ports for power to AMS systems. That they tell you to use for AMS systems only. But the AMS system cord is 6 pins so you have to plug this power supply into a hub.

Since that is the case, can you attach each of these power supplies to a 4 way Hub? Allowing you to run a total of 16 AMS systems for a total of 64 spools of filament?

Otherwise what purpose do they serve?

Yeah, welcome to BTT. They forgot to mention that the AMS Lite was the only one it would work with out of the box. You need 6 pin connectors, and I think the only ones available are from BL store.

Thing is, they’re short. BTT says they’ll be releasing cables “soon”. The only comment they’ve said is “oops, sorry” and changed the marketing.

and I don’t think there’s enough power to have that many AMS running off one printer.

So I guess our options are AMS Lite’s. LOL  or buying multiple Hubs to connect multiple units to AMS. But I am sure a 4 pin to 6 pin wire is available or will be soon. Unless they know some info we don’t know and that is why they did that.

Honestly it is not fair to all of us that own the higher end Bambu Lab printers like the P1S and X1C.

@johnfcooley you would be correct the panda branch ( AKA a splitter) can’t handle large amounts of power. As some one who has a background in Electrical as well as IT. I would know best

First off it isn’t the direct source of the AC current plus it isn’t built to handle the high demand. Maybe if it had it’s own power supply and it’s own ground then I would say maybe since it needs a way to complete the open circuit of AC power otherwise it become the ground.

The only other way it could run 16 AMS systems is if there is something to act as a buffer that is written into a program that tell the splitter to send the power to the selected Hub you want that redirects the power and information to that AMS system allowing you to print like normal.

So it is very much possible that we can run way more then 4 AMS system at once.

Spoiler alert: There is a very good chance come 2025 Bambu Labs will be releasing a New version of the AMS system most it will most likely offer some kind of Wi-Fi or internet controls and a optional direct AC power supply.

It goes with out saying after the announcement of the X1E and the target market they are aiming to get. Big companies will clearly have a problem with the current amount of spools of filament you can use at once 16 isn’t enough for large projects that require multiple colors and different types of filament plus if a project is running for long periods of time they aren’t going to want to keep reloading them.

Also I would not be surprised if they offer some new Item like Hubs that allow more AMS units, Wi-Fi adapters to older AMS Systems, as well as larger AMS systems that hold more spools.

Because lets face it I am probably not the only person that wants more AMS systems or Larger AMS systems.

I bought it for giggles and for the extension of usb (camera and Panda Touch when it works). I have a 24v tap on the back of my P1S that I use to power lights and a bento box. I don’t think I’ll ever add an AMS. That tap has the benefit of a switch for both.

Matter of fact, I’m considering just using a powered usb hub mounted to my bench to run the camera and touch, then just putting the Branch up.
