BL cloud outage => Studio + Handy apps dysfunctional

For the past month or so I’ve had other priorities (real life related) and haven’t used my X1C as before. So when the BL’s cloud outage occured a few days ago, I wasn’t really concerned, given that ai wasn’t connected or using the printer. I’ve noted a couple or so of users complaining about dysfunctionalities and interconnection issues between their printers and the AMS units, or between printers and BL Studio and/or Handy apps, and again I didn’t troubled myself over these, thinking that the dysfunctionalities were related to the cloud connectivity issues, which BL sill fix and when later I’ll launch my printer, things will be back to normal. Today I needed to print a couple of items for personal use, and got hit by the first bad surprise: I had to re-login as neither of my apps were connected any longer. That went smooth enough. However, when launching the Studio app to slice the items for printing, I’ve noted that the AMS section in the app is no longer visible, nor can I resyncronise my filaments in the AMS with the app. In fact, the print part of the app no longer displays the temperature and AMS sections. Factually, I couldn’t “convince” my X1C to print from the Studio app. Had to send it to my SD card and launch the print from there. Another bad surprise occurred when launching the Handy app. I use to monitor how the printing goes through the Handy app, but when launching the app, it showed that the printer is offline and, strangely enough, the AMS part wasn’t visible either.
What I find strange is that in the Handy app there is no more info about the firmware version , though I know for a fact that I’m up to date with both the X1C and the AMS firmware.

Has anyone else been confronted with such situation, and if you did, how or what did you do to remediate the problem?

Hi @drakko

It is not equal, but it seems you are not the only one facing issues with printing from the studio after the cloud outage. Check @wizardbynight case:

Currently, without a solution.
I would try to reset the printer and reinstall the apps if possible.

To answer your point

Yes I do have, quite a few, and I would hate to lose them, as it would require to redo everything from scratch…I have neither the time or a backup to restore all that info for all my filaments. It’s disconcerting and very much frustrating to have to lose all this info because BL screwed things big time and forced all of us to have to go through their bloody cloud. I’m actually quite pissed off on BL, if I have to factory reset the whole thing. BL should compensate each and everyone of its customers affected by this damn cloud outage.

In that case, this is the last option. Also, it is a wild guess that may solve the problem.

Yeah, I get it. No worries Jay.
Still trying to figure out how can i reset everything without losing my filament settings during this process.

This is one of the major reasons I use OrcaSlicer - the flow and PA calibration results are stored in the User preset file, which is in the Bambu cloud, and also included in my daily computer backups.

I’ve never understood why Bambu introduced “Custom” filament settings, or why they put calibration results in the printer without a backup method. “User” data was already in the cloud where it could have been accessed for Makerworld slicing/printing.

I agree, but at this time I’m trying to find a solution that doesn’t involve factory reset or losing in any way or manner my user data… I’m still hesitating in going on with the factory reset… hoping either someone might come up with a feasable solution… either I manage to save my data somehow, before reset.

I noticed the same. I had to select the printer again on device page drop down even though it looked like it was already selected.

Did you also noticed if your Studio and Handy are still showing the fans and AMS dash? Mine have completely disappeared in both. No longer visible. On Studio, all I got is the left side where you can view what the camera shoots, but the right side, the one with the temperatures and fans (top) and AMS (bottom) are gone. Same in my Handy app. Can’t resync my filaments, can’t change a bloody thing.

They were gone at first but are showing now.

Could you elaborate, please?.

At first, they werent showing. After I did what I said, it showed up

So, would this help anyone?

It would, provided that the right side of the screen, shown in the background of your screenshot, would be still available (if it would, then all this discussion wouldn’t have existed).
Practically, this tab in my Studio is currently reduced to only its left side. Furthermore, it became a floating tab, not fixed, like the rest of the tabs in Studio.

I don’t have any I want to save. Just remembered coming across this and wondered if it helped.

Thx John… You are a… cool(ey) guy
I’ve decided to give it another day (tomorrow) to try either restore to what it was before outage, and save my hard earned filament settings, or give up on them and start up from scratch again…

I’ll stay out of it from here on, but did you see this from long ago (heh, 2 years)

If you are using Windows, you might want to try adjusting Settings>Accessibility>Text Size. In some cases, parts of the Studio display have been “missing” because of large text.

It’s not the text. It’s the entire half of the right side of the tab (the one with temperatures and fans on top and the AMS filaments on the bottom) that are gone. The left side of the tab (the one with the camera view on top) is still visible. And the tab is no longer fix but floating. In Handy app, the AMS doesn’t show anymore, and the X1C registration doesn’t show the firmware version and the AMS is also gone.
I’ll check this evening the info provided by John, above, and see if it works to recover my filament settings. In any case, tomorrow I’ll uninstal the apps on both my laptop and phone, and restart anew. Hopefully, it will eventually work out. I’ll share the results here.
