BL PLA Matte Quality Issues

Hi all. Had my P1S for a few weeks now and it’s been printing great. Got a spool of Bambu Lab dark red matte PLA and ran into my first quality issues. I’ve run both the flow rate and flow dynamics calibration as well as a temp tower. Regular PLA (both BL and eSun) prints perfectly as can be seen from the green calibration cube.

Any help diagnosing the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Since you already said that you went through the calibration … if in doubt, try to dry the filament and then try again.

This looks like wet filament.

If you do not have a filament dryer you can improvise with an oven, or the printer enclosure with the heated bed.

The drying time and temperature is on the bambu website in the store, for the filament you purchased.

EDIT For bambu matte, it is 55C for 8 hours in an oven or filament dryer. Printer enclosure will need to be longer or hotter as it’s not as well insulated. Don’t melt it or the spool it is on.

So long story short, due to a faulty connection my part cooling fan wasn’t running. Fiddled with the connector, reprinted a Bambu cube and lo and behold all is working fine now. Amazing thing is that the PLA basic and tough printed almost perfectly even without the fan. I’m guessing the matte is just more sensitive to cooling (or lack thereof).

Silly oversight on my part, but maybe maybe somebody else has the same problem and this post helps them.

Thank you both for your help.

Hello, I have the same problem with the matte red color and in my case it is not the fan.
I have loaded the AMS with three new spools of PLA MATE Bambu Lab, and the red part of the piece has defects, it seems that its melting point is far from that of the other filaments.
The colors are Black, White and Red and only the red has errors.
Maybe it’s a factory defect, I have other matte colors already used and they haven’t given me any problems to date.
All the best.

How do your top surfaces look? I have another spool of matte blue that need some calibration before I could could decent dimensional accuracy. I had to change the k-factor if I remember correctly.

I have an ice-blue PLA Matte. It seems that when using the default Bambu PLA Matte profile, the flow rate is insufficient (default 0.98 → 1.02 after calibration). This is the first Bambu filament in my collection that doesn’t provide high quality with standard parameters.
It’s very frustrating because the twice cheaper eryone pla matte is better on generic pla profile without any calibrations.
