EU, US & U.K. all have laws against it.
This is true for me most of the time as well.

200 off is for the P1S Combo
The image I posted earlier was from the US site. As was the $270 value.
This one is from the Canadian site.
You will see the price shown for the P1S without AMS is denoted as $200CAD off, yet it is only $60 less than the price charged prior to the sale.
As shown in the terms & conditions page for the Canadian sale.
Not sure when the last time I saw a thread … anywhere that has used the word lie so many times in 11 days making it feel overly dramatic in a “Won’t somebody think about the children” meme kinda way.
Laws are only as good as their enforcement, so report the issue to your appropriate government organization. In the US, that’s the FTC and sure they’ll take the complaint. They have not acted to enforce fair advertising statutes in over 50 years, so I wouldn’t expect them to get working on your complaint. This leaves you with having to use the courts, and that ain’t free. Results from court can vary widely with so many variables like where you are, what judge you get, etc etc.
The first thing you’ll have to do for a court case is be able to show actual injury from the transaction in question. Ask yourself that now – what damages have occured from a sale price appearing better than it is? These two things go hand-in-hand. The FTC is not handing out punishments and this can be a difficult in court. By pointing out the root of the complaint you’ve already shown that you do not need protection by the FTC and that you have not incurred damages. I know we all like to think we are the sharpest crayons in the box, but even awfully dull crayons see through pricing claims.
So as a thought experiment, are laws being broken? I guess. In the real world do the powers that be find it important enough to enforce? Not so much, so all you are doing is applying your own moral code onto a business that has no obligation to adopt your morals at all. X = lying, and lying = bad
Thank you for your take.
I am not in the US and the U.K. has strong laws against this action and the belief that actual loss is required is not a thing in such cases.
The protection of consumers is more robustly defended in other countries, the U.K. and EU for example proactively act upon this.
Thank you for this, I will not take it as an insult even though it does appear made that way, otherwise, no need to state it or the follow-up.
If you are happy with bad actors doing such things, excellent, that is your view, me and many others here have a different opinion, and I trust you agree with that?
I do hope you are not saying your view is the only take.
I don’t imagine @TXJustin is happy about the state of affairs. The problem here in the US is that the entire regulatory/administrative state has been under attack for decades. That said, our current Federal Trade Commissioner is doing an excellent job going after the big fish, and quite simply the resources aren’t there to chase after a Chinese company selling consumer products for not much money. (To the consumer, yes, $1000 is a lot of money, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s not.)
What I’d like to see is an increase in numeracy among citizens across the board. This way, the buyers won’t be sucked in by claims about some discount from a fictional “original” price. Just tell us what you are charging for the product and we will decide if that price is acceptable. If it is, we make the purchase; if not, we move on.
But as it is, too many people fall for the claim that they are “saving money” with an advertised “discount.” And that’s why the retailers do it.
I guessed who liked your comment before looking.
Perhaps the joke’s on Bambu UK. I visited the site a few days ago, totally ready to buy. Saw the “Black Friday” advertisements and thought it was great that I was going to get a discount.
When I clicked through, the price of the items in my basket didn’t reflect the advertising. I thought that this must mean that I had to actually wait for that particular Friday, or perhaps that I was just using the site wrong and failing to claim my discount.
You know what I did? Nothing at all: I retreated in confusion and didn’t buy anything. I actually tried Amazon instead… who show all kinds of other brands like Creality when you search for ‘Bambu 3D printer’.
If other people do as I did, this misleading advertising must be hurting Bambu, and they’ll never even know about the customers they lost.
Bit lost on buying from the UK. Looking at getting A1 combo.
Price was £509 but as for some time as far as I can see it has been £419, now on black friday deal it is now £389 making a saving of £30.
Am I missing somthing this isnt a good deal?
Why isn’t it a good deal? You find that makes the printer overpriced? To me it seems a pretty good value for quality proposition, but you can definitely find lower cost options from other brands
Thanks for the reply, I do think it’s a good deal. What other printer would you suggest looking at for a newbie just starting out.
In this price range and multicolor capabilities, I’m guessing you can give a look at the Kobra 3 combo, but don’t expect the same quality of prints
Edit/ and if you don’t need that bed size the a1mini is a pretty great little printer
It is important to know the A1 is a great printer and a discount, any discount is welcome.
No one is saying the true discount isn’t worth it, it is.
I and others are annoyed at the blatant lie presented as the pre-sale price.
Male decision based on the true sale price.
I’m biased, but, if you have the budget, the A1 is a great printer to start with. If you can afford the A1 combo to get the ability to easily print with 4 different colours at the same time, even better.
Thanks for the feedback, I do like the A1 but now someone has put a spanner in the works with the Kobra 3 combo it looks nice the AMS is enclosed to start with. Need to do some research more YouTube
You will find the MakerWorld site that is part of the Bambu Lab printers additional benefits a massive benefit.
So many free models of all shapes, sizes and benefits and all free. I have uploaded over 600 myself.
You have the ability to earn points just by printing, rating and using the service that you can use to redeem for products or gift cards to purchase things from Bambu Lab (BL).
You can add your own designs to give away, whilst earning points from those who print them.
The Bambu Handy app lets you print directly from everything from MakerWorld and control and monitor your printer.
The AMS lite (which comes with the A1 series) isn’t enclosed, but, I have not found that an issue. I have an A1 mini with the AMS lite and printing over a 1,000 hours (the printer tells you how long) and never had an issue.
You get this great forum with excellent community members who help (a few who aren’t great), I’m somewhere in the middle
I haven’t tried the other printer, as I say I am biased, but, the Bambu Lab, MakerWorld and this forum combination makes for a compelling all round solution that is really hard to match.
Keep in mind I have had my issues with BL (not the printers, the company) and if I can still say that, you should be safe.
I am just about to order my fourth P1S, if that also says something. This is my hobby, not a business for me.
You have sold me, stick with my first choice A1 combo
For me makerworld is not a key factor, but the quality and hands-off printing experience is. And for some people the Handy App is a plus - I’m old school and still prefer to print from my computer
Model repositories there are plenty around and most offer rewards as well, so this isn’t really a differentiator, it does have better rewards for designers than most, but for users it’s pretty much the same
For disabled people like me air is a massive benefit. Also, it is pretty much required for P1S users due to the display. Also if like me the computer and printers are in different rooms.
MakerWorld has a massive range of models that are a great bonus. It doesn’t stop me adding to it, just because it has so many.
I still use my desktop with 55” screens to do some modelling also my laptop and my iPad.
I use any and all tech to get the job done.
As I am on crutches remote execution would help. As with my avatar pic that is the image of my 3D printed hip joint. It took 9 weeks to be printed in Switzerland shipped to the UK arrived at the hospital at 4pm and installed 9am the following day. I think this is what got me interested in 3D printing
I feel bad for people who ventured into Bambu’s website on recommendation of a printer brand, only to go to Amazon and buy a creality.
