You are correct, but I am getting invoices by the german company, so the EU law must apply to them.
Yea I saw the price go from $329 to $329 down from $480 or something. This was before the black friday sale even. The limited time scale also is misleading considering I bought the a1m for the $329 price two weeks ago. They show the date range oct 21st-dec 3rd but that’s clearly not the case. I wouldn’t be surprised if the prices are the same after the sale ends. Either that or the prices return to “normal” for a few months before they do the same cut they’ve had for the last year.
I’m also not a huge fan of advertising “bulk filament sale” on the black friday sales page considering that it has been like that for several months. They advertised it as a limited time sale on the filament page a few months ago (which has since disappeared). Neither of these actually indicated that it was an indefinite move from the filament membership to a public bulk deal so no real sale here either.
I saw a page for the AU terms and conditions which lists all the sales in a table. The a1 mini section is empty. On there is the actual prices they’ve been using for months. For example the a1 combo was $750 beforehand and the table shows it as $700 or something so the sale is only so much, but the advertising on the website is $700 down from $850 or around that mark.
Yes, I detailed all of this if you read from the top.
Ah didnt see the more recent replies (I was about to post screenshots of the table vs sales for the AU). There is a sneaky asterisk at the very bottom of the black friday sales page that says
" *The discount amounts advertised are calculated by comparing between MSRP with the final purchase price" but there is no such asterisk on the purchase / listing page (besides the link to the T&Cs).
I believe this is an email sent to everyone thats based off the US pricing/sales. At the bottom of the email it has “Bambulab USA Inc. 8000 Centre Park, Suite 330 Austin, TX 78754…”. That’s probably the one thing thats at least not purposely misleading lmao
Wait, you’re telling us that Yelp! is not alien?
That same email told me I could get a P1S Combo for $749. At which price I would buy it in a jiffy. OR X1C FOR $1199. Bargain
Would be nice if they’d mentioned it is US Dollars - it’s a LOT more in Australian Dollars
Fully agreed. And that’s what I expected. But in the end, when you REALLY seek for help into EU authorities, they couldnt care less.
I don’t think that’s true. I had a problem with UK company, it was just when UK left EU and I contacted my local business inspection, they then talked to UK colleagues and figured it out on my behalf. I got my refund.
my 2 cents, i’ve never seen that a discount needs to be placed on top of another discount, they are always put over MSRP, not a discount on top of another discount, which means, that the sale is indeed a sale, not false adverts
that being said, indeed there are some discounts that match the ones that were already in place, i.e the A1mini, which has been the same discount over MSRP for quite a few months now, and it’s not really a specific black friday discount, however, and continuing to play the devils advocate, the company - in this case bambulab, can apply whatever discount they see fit, and not even on all items, it’s completely at their discretion
now if that is kind of shady from a consumer standpoint, sure, but it’s a very general practice that happens across the board, and i mean everywhere, discounts are always listed on MSRP, you will never see a discount being applied on another discount, then some will be better than the previous promotion - like the X1C (and the AMS), and others will not, like the A1 mini, and then it’s up to the consumer to choose to make a purchase or not - comparing to the price, not to a previous discount
that being said, if i was looking at purchasing a new printer now, only the X1C would actually be a deal, and the A1mini, it’s actually still a pretty good deal, even if not an improvement over the previous discount
Most countries have some form of restrictions on advertising a sale price based on a price the product hasn’t been sold at previously or indicating that the product has been sold at a lower price that indicated in the previous time frame.
The US, UK, EU and Australia all have these laws that prohibit the use of a MSRP if the product hasn’t been sold at that price or has been discounted lower than that price within 28 days, 30 days or 6 months depending on the country.
Most importantly though is the sheer dishonesty of it.
Why lie about the sake price when the true discount is pretty good. The A1 mini is an exception as it is already a great price and removing more for a sale seems too much to ask.
You’re right, in France we have same law.
learning something new, never heard of that law, in Portugal (where i’m from) all the big box stores do this, they apply the discount to MSRP, even if it was on sale before, so they are all pretty much breaking the law, as I said for me, it’s very common to see, that’s why i gave my 2 cents, but if that is not the case i stand corrected
Easiest answer, take your evidence, report it to local trading standards and they may or may not do something about it. Given that DFS peddle the same nonsense year in year out it is annoying. However all they have to prove is that it was available in another store for a continuous period of 28 days at the higher price in the last 6 months and that that price has not been lower between that period and the sale period. UK Legislation here The Consumer Protection (Code of Practice for Traders on Price Indications) Approval Order 2005 . They will skate by saying that the price was higher previously whether in the last 6 months (?) and the sale has been relabelled.
My old man told me “A fool and his money are soon parted”. People need to understand that proper sales are genuinely an attempt to get rid of old out of date stock, peppered with a few items in limited quantities to draw you in. Do your research and if you can’t be bothered, prepare to be fleeced. Big tech/ corps are not there for your benefit. If you go around all the big sheds (DIY Stores) at the moment, paint prices are through the roof, so that for Black Friday that can give huge savings, they’re just laying the groundwork for that sale event. Have a great weekend
I took advantage of the sale twice and added an X1C and a P1S to the arsenal
I think those continuous/permanent sales such as you reference Hobby/Lobby are to capture impulse shoppers. Probably same philosophy here.
The casual Ender-3 Pro user’s Ender-3 Pro is broken (Again) so he or she decided to “look at those Bambu printers people are talking about” so goes to web site and “My oh my, I got lucky today. Better jump on this bad boy while the sale is on. Dang a hundred bucks off, whoo-hoo!!”
I was wrong about my P1S Combo @749.00 (which is current sale price). It was actually on sale for 849.00 when I bought, so it is an additional 100.00 off right now.
But, not the $200 in the current sale as stated here.
200 off MSRP, very common here.
Have no idea what the US law is on it. All that ad says is ‘up to 200 off’, doesn’t say off what, and it is 200 off MSRP which Is how I assume they get away with it here.
I’ve seen sales here around Christmas on items that I’ve seen cheaper earlier in the year. Nothing I’m interested in gets a good sale price until AFTER I’ve bought it🤣
