Blobs at start and stop of each layer

Hi everyone,

I have been troubleshooting an issue with my X1C for nearly two weeks now. I am trying to print a gear out of 3DXtech WearX Nylon filament. I have had success with this filament in the past with this printer and was able to make it through an entire 0.5kg spool without too many issues. I recently purchased a new spool of this filament and have not had a successful print since. I have dried this filament numerous times in my air fryer on the dehydrate setting at 190F for anywhere from 6-12 hours. I can confirm that there are no bubbles present in the purged filament (there were lots of bubbles when I tried to print with this stuff before drying).

I have also tried two different, brand new, 0.4mm nozzles with no improvement.

Running essentially the generic PA profile but with modified temps. 90C bed, 260 nozzle (manufacturer recommends 260-275C. Ive tried temps across this range… even as low as 250… with the exact same results.

Problem: The first layer goes down beautifully but every time I run this model I get these blobs that shoot out at the start and end of every layer. These start at layer 2 and just keep getting worse as layers progress. The nozzle has to plow through these blobs and I worry I might break the nozzle if I continue to run the part. The issue is very repeatable regardless of where i place the part on build plate or numerous attempts trying to reslice. I even resaved the file from CAD and resaved a new 3MF… No luck.

I dont know much about pressure adavace but wonder if it has anything to do with that. The way it shoots the blobs out at the start and beginning of each path almost looks like there is reverse retraction on or something… like an extra squirt of filament before and after a path.

Orca Slicer has pre-loaded calibration models that you can use. There are instructions for how to do it so you don’t need to know much about it.

I hope I get a more detailed answer. I have EXACTLY the same issue. Just put in a new spool of eSu, used stock settings, enabled flow control and I still get the blobs as described above.

Any one else have any ideas?
