I am getting a blob of filament right before the calibration/purge line as the head starts across the front of the build plate. It is coming from oozing of material as the head is sitting there waiting to start its journey across the plate (left to right on the front of the build plate). I would love to insert a “retract” (G10) there, but having a hard time figuring out just where to put it in the start-up code.
Does anyone know what the following code blocks do?
Nozzle Load LIne
Draw extrinsic para cali paint
extruder sali extrusion
laser & RGB calibration
Hand Eye Calibration
Turn off light and wait extrude temperature
Purge line to wipe the nozzle
Maybe it goes right before purge line to wipe the nozzle block?
If your filament was dry, it wouldn’t ooze much if at all, and you wouldn’t need to make any changes to your code…

The filament is as dry as it’s going to get. Inside an AMS2. I have dried filament for days and still had oozing on the x1c.
Well, it’s definitely moisture that causes significant oozing.
Maybe you left the filament loaded? There’s a long filament path outside the AMS where there’s no protection.
I get virtually no oozing on my X1C. I have an AMS. I don’t have an AMS2. I dry with a filament dryer. If it’s been in the AMS for more than 2 weeks, it gets dried again before I use it. Filament can never be too dry.

My extruder setting for retraction is at the Babmu default of .8mm…….everything I read sez 2 - 5mm is the proper setting. I haven’t gone that route yet, but that’s next
So is mine. Literally ever single time plastic has oozed enough to bother me, re-drying the filament has fixed it. And my tolerance for print defects is low, I’ll redry if I even think it might be a problem. And I’ve never upped retraction from the defaults. (well, TBT, I did once thinking I could fix an oozing problem without redrying the filament).
The plastic in the extruder is still pretty viscous, even when it’s hot. The extruder doesn’t “drool”. Plastic doesn’t flow out on its own, it has to be pushed out. So if any appreciable amount of filament comes out when the drive mechanism isn’t driving it, moisture is really the most likely cause.
I print a lot of Nylon, which is very hydrophilic. Even in my AMS, with the AMS reading humidity level as “1”, more than few weeks is enough the filament needs to be dried again.
More retraction isn’t a solution, it’s a workaround.
The printer is doing a full purge when loading new filament, right? The plastic that’s in the nozzle will have absorbed moisture and will ooze when initially heated, prior to the purge.
