Bolt fell out

i was recently having a z homing issue. after a few tries it finally homed only to find a 2mm x 30mm bolt on the left side of the bed. so far i have been unable to locate the place this particular bolt goes, before i start tearing the machine apart to get a better look i was wondering if anyone had a good lead on where the bolt came from.

Are you sure it fell from above?

Could this have been one of the screws used to lock the bed that you remove during unpacking? Is it possible you removed it, but, it remained in the printer until being dislodged?

Just discard it.

It’s definitely one of the screws of the transport locks (I did tear down a x1 completely some time ago and have every single screw type in an assortment box).

I guess it fell into the printer during packaging and found a home in the upper printer area. Must have decided to go for a holiday now

LOOOOL CLASSIC !

Love your post and the confusion a little bolt can cause if it appears out of nowhere…
I had it WAY worse when I repaired the backlight on the TV for a friend…
Can well prepared with multimeter, LED tester, tools AND my big multi-tray to keep those many screws well sorted.
The job was straight forward, take apart, remove the white plastic film without causing too much damage, swap the LED strips, put together in reverse order…
If not for that BBQ in the backyard, the cold beer and his wife…

With the strips out and the steaks ready it was time for a break in the summer sun - and the mandatory beer…
Some partners can be really nice and really thoughtful!
Like when the boys are outside and she sees this big tray with all those screws so nicely sorted.
Clearly whoever did this missed some screws, why else would there be this little tray with screws on top of the entertainment unit…
So she went through them, checked their sizes and sorted them onto MY big tray…
Thought nothing of it, just a nice gesture to help, not worth to mention, certainly not to me LOL

Came back to the TV, put the new strips in, tried them and started to put things back together…
First round was on me - no leftover screws for the LED frame.
Then came the boards and for the love of god, I could not work out where those last two screws had to go…
I eventually though I found their location but with them in there the cover for the boards would not fit…
Ok, all is firm, what could possibly go wrong if I leave out those two screws…
From there panic set in - with every step I got more screws left !
My friend wasn’t too impressed with my skills anymore either “Why didn’t you take some pics if there is so many screws?” he asked…
I asked “Why the F… did I not check them?”
We couldn’t work it out with the pics either…
Being such a nice wife and seeing our growing frustration she came to rescue “I sorted the screws for you that you left at the entertainment unit so they won’t get lost.”
Three hours wasted followed by working out which screws where for the amplifier my friend too apart earlier…

You see, I feel you pain here, really do as missing screws are so much better than screws appearing out of thin air with no place to go…
