Brand new P1S and I have very bad print from SD card example

Hello
I’m very new in 3D print
I bought a Bambu P1S, it arrived 11/28/23
I set up the printer like the bambu video shows,
First print and second print was ok from the SD card next day, I try to continue print from the SD card and only bad print, really bad
I send all the information to Bambu customer service and Technical support but, I have no return from anyone until now
I’m adding photos and videos of the problem to see if somebody can help me since, since bambu customer care don’t give any support for the product

@zentiger50, Check that you are doing the following:

  1. Using the correct nozzle selection in Bambu Studio. The default nozzle size that is shipped is 0.4.
  2. Make sure you are using a default print profile to start. I would suggest maybe ‘.12mm Fine @BBl X1C’.
  3. When you start the print, make sure you also run the flow calibration. This is one of the check boxes that pops up when you select print.
  4. Verify that you are using dry filament and not something that has been lying around in the open for a while.

This is where I would start without knowing any more details.

Hi
Thanks for answer me
All prints are from the SD that come from the machine
I didn’t upload anything from bambu studio
Do you think that the info int SD was incompatible with P1S?

Also, the filament is fresh that come from the machine I opened up and used one dia old
I’m try to upload a video but, it is not letting me

I really can’t tell from the photo but it looks like you’re filament is at the wrong temperature. It’s almost like you’re using PLA settings for an ABS filament.

Can you do a screengrab of the printer status while its printing and the config?

Are you referring to the pre-installed files on the printer or files from your sd card?

  • In the first case, I’d suggest to download the models and slice yourself as the pre-installed 3mf files were somewhat overtaken by updates and do not neccessarily print well anymore with updated firmware.
  • In the second case, I am a bit puzzled about its source if you did not slice it or did not use a print profile. In fact, it would be quite likely to fail completely.

Also, do not assume that a new bag means that the roll is dry. Since you had good prints before, it is likely usable, but it is good practice to dry new rolls.

But maybe check material type settings first as suggested by Olias.

Adding a few more steps:
5) Check that correct filament is selected in Bambu Studio and that it matches the filament section on the actual printer.
6) Verify that the printer firmware is up to date and Bambu Studio is up to date.
7) Reslice anything that is preloaded on the printer from the factory. As mentioned above, there have likely been many updates since those slice files were created.

In general, there are the ‘low hanging fruit’ variables to check over any time you have unexpected results. Beyond this, it gets hairy to say the least and we will have to explore more options.

Thanks all
Any suggestions with file to download and from where?

Not sure which specific file you were trying to print. But the printer pre-installed ones should all be available on Makerworld. But you may also want to have a look Printables, Cults3D, etc for interesting prints.

I’d thingiverse a good option?

Thingiverse has been around for the longest and therefore has a larger library. It also has a lot more fluff and junk. Printables on the other hand is much more organized and has a substantially better search tool. You’ll also find that there are few “legit” models posted on Thingiverse that aren’t also cross-posted on Printables.

So what do I mean by legit? It’s easier to say what’s not legit. Thingiverse bullshit models are easy to spot. They are the ones that are renderings-only. The real jackasses who post these often may do so as a prank because their models often are not printable on an FDM printer. Ask me how I know… Well… since you asked… I’ve wasted way too much filament on ghost models posted on Thingiverse that were never tested.

So if you’re looking for models to print, consider Printables first then Thingiverse.

Hi!
This looks like the cell phone holder and of all the pre-sliced models that Bambu gives you, that is the one print that I hear the most negative feedback on! If this was your first print, I can understand your concern and I would try printing the Blanchie Boat first. It is the test standard for 3D Printing! Otherwise, you can go with the suggestions in the feedback on this post and a sincere Good Luck to you and your printing efforts!

Hi @zentiger50 - congrats on getting your print to work.

Can I ask, what do you think it was that resolved the issue?

You may be new to 3d printing, or just Bambu - but don’t assume that your observations are ‘obvious’!
Fresh eyes can see things that seasoned printers take for granted - documentation that misses steps, labels in the UI that assume some previous understanding and could be worded better, etc.

The likelihood of another unfortunate user stumbling into the same issue as you is high, and your notes here may be just enough to save them days of waiting on Bambu Labs support
