New SD Card gives error ‘Formatting Timeout: Please tray again later’

I checked what the maximum size of SD Card can be used and it shows 2TB so I purchased a SanDisk Extreme Ultra Plus 1TB, SD Bus Mode UHS-I, SD Speed Class 10, UHS Speed Class U3, Video Speed Class V30.

I’ve inserted it and tried a few times to format the card and I still get the error ‘Formatting Timeout: Please tray again later’.

Is there anything you guys can suggest? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

You need to format the card to FAT32. The printer isn’t always successful with larger cards.

I’m assuming there is a MAC program that will do it but you’ll have to consult google.

Thanks very much for your quick response! Much appreciated, I’ll give that a try!

SDCARD.ORG provides a PROPER formatter for SD cards that actually checks with the chip on the SD card.
Most consumer devices that can format smaller cards struggle with the big, high performance ones.
Simply because they can’t communicate correctly.

Thank you! I’m currently 50% formatted using the SDCARD software.

AFAIK there is no need for a full format, the quick one is enough.
