I believe rightly or wrongly that current brim size is controlled indirectly via “Skirt loops,” which for beginners and most user I suspect is unintuitive.
Suggestion: To add a Brim thickness (mm) parameter to the Brim option in Bambu Studio that automatically calculates loop count based on current line width.
Skirts are not attached to the model. They are placed around the model (and any brim), with a clear gap. They are used with some printers to establish smooth flow before beginning the first layer. They are generally unnecessary with Bambu printers, which use the “load line” at the front of the plate for this purpose. Increasing skirt height can create a draft shield.
Brims are attached to the model and are not affected by skirt settings. They provide extra surface area, adhering the model to the plate, keeping it from moving during the print, and may help prevent warp. There is no mental math involved; the brim will be the specified width. The brim-object gap is not an actual gap; it offsets the inside line of the brim to reduce squish into the model. Increasing the “gap” can make brim easier to remove. If model warp is causing the brim to break free during the print, reducing the gap may help. Brim thickness in Studio is always a single layer.

In my case, I want to print a vase-mode tapered cylindrical part but with a thick flange at the lower end. This could be done with an outside-only defined thickness brim.
Another part would be vase-mode but with a thick base, which could be done with an inner-only thick brim sized to fill the part. (Think drinking tumbler with a vase-mode wall).
I’ve searched the forum and can’t find any pointers on how to currently do this. Thanks.
Brilliant my understanding of the link between skirts and brim was wrong so thank you for that.
I am relatively new to Bambu Studio and I use Brims If I get adhesion problems so slow the speed down for the first layers.
I still maintain that an option for Brim thickness would for many be really beneficial.
Being able to achieve various settings within Global, Advanced etc isn’t always a good thing as many times one is ready to print then remembers that a change in presets etc needed to be made.
In my experience having looked after programmers for over 50 years they don’t think like the man in the street think, they are usually a different breed, so their way of doing things is easy for them to understand but doesn’t in many ways work for the average user, just look at the nomenclature of describing things. That’s why the User Interface is paramount with any app.

I’d like to increase brim thickness for another reason: with PETG, brims leave hard to remove marks on the textured PEI plate, whereas thicker residues can be removed more easily.
