Brittle SUNLU PLA breaking inside AMS Lite PTFE tube

I started printing a purge chute today to renew my old one, specifically this one, however, it was in layer 15 when the A1 Mini that I was printing sent me an error message.

I checked the PTFE tube and a broken piece of filament fell. Afterwards, the printer continued its job normally.

The error continued with 2 subsequent prints, then I swapped the filament and no errors ocurred.

The original filament was a SUNLU PLA in gray, and had about 1 month without use.

Is this related to the filament’s age, and if it is, what measures could I take to fix this issue?

The tip of a roll that has been unused is likely going to be brittle, I snip 10-30cm depending on how it feels before I load it into the machine. If you snipped then maybe a bad roll but you should be able to assess it with your hands. Wet filament also gets brittle, Just as an fyi

Dry your filament.
