Last night my AMS jammed up mid-print (single color) saying it couldn’t retract the filament. This morning I find the print head and back end of the AMS full of basically filament dust.
Disassembled the print head, cleaned it out, it all looks fine (there’s actually a ton of dust in there still but I think it’s ultimately ok). Begin disassembling and cleaning the AMS, and find this at the internal filament hub. From what can tell that piece looks to keep pressure on the filament against the motor roller (I’m guessing) and so that part breaking and getting misaligned I could see causing the filament to get shredded - am on-base at all with that, to y’all’s knowledge?
Picked up my P1S and AMS 2 Pro during this last Black Friday sale. I’m obviously going to see what warranty options Bambu gives me, but I’m curious if this is a known / common issue and what others think.

That might be exactly what I need! I’ve only got PLA and PETG-HF though, would PETG-HF work for this part or does it really need ABS?
It’s worth a try, keep in mind it’s suggested to use ABS because of the AMS2 has drying capabilities.
I’d open a ticket with Bambu, letting them know this has happened and in the meantime while waiting for them to send you a replacement I’d print one to get you going. I’d also keep the drying temps low or not use the drying feature until you can repair it or get some ABS and print it.
Awesome. One last question - if all I’m planning to ever dry in there is PLA and PETG, would I be fine with a PETG part in there during PLA and PETG drying cycles? My intuition says yes but my paranoia says confirm it.
Maybe, keep in mind the heater may be heating at higher temps to keep an even temp inside the AMS. Personally, I’d try it and see just for curiosity. If it fails you can always print another.
