BTT and TH3DStudio's LED Light Kit

I’ve installed BTT’s Panda LED light kit. Could use more. And TH3D Studio has a different LED light kit. Anyone try to use both these on the same P1S?

Make sure your 3D printer has enough power output to support two LED light kits. If an LED light kit requires additional power supply, you need to make sure you have the right power supply.

Makes good sense. And Thank you.
Anyone know the max output available at the “board” tucked behind the glass door?

Bambu said 300mA which would give a max of 1.5W under 5V, don’t think you can connect more than one.

The BIQU/BTT Panda Lux instructions have an explicit warning saying one and only one LED strip can be used. The reason being there is not enough power to support more than one strip.

I bought one, installed it per the instructions on new P1S. The instructions say clearly say that even though their adapter board has four JST style sockets, the power available dictates that you disconnect the stock light and leave it disconnected. So the Panda Lux has a magnetic base the strip is mounted to and the mount is angular with white LED’s that are not covered so you get somewhat brighter light angled towards build plate.
There’s also a USB-A female on other end of board under front upper frame.

Excellent. I found Panda also makes a 1-to–2 USB A splitter designed specifically for that end of the board. Its about $7 on Amazon.

Panda, BIQU, BTT are one company.
Be aware of what we have said in response to your question. The power has to come through the board to get to both the lights AND the USB-A socket.
Is buying a USB-A splitter for $7.00 worth the cost of have to learn a lesson in electricity. That Panda light REPLACES the built in llight. The fine print says it all.
The power that supplies both the light and the USB-A is $45.00. You burn it up, you have to first replace the board AND you have to have Bambu turn it on for you via registering it won’t run, even with new board until board connects to Bambu and they do an electronics version a handshake.

In regards to the light, when I installed the light I saw those 4 sockets I thought "hey cool I can plug in new light and plug the old light in too. Then I read the instructions and when the maker of the says DON’T DO THAT, what they are telling you is you are at risk of burning the Bambu boards and it was your fault because we told you not

Everyone has been politely saying you really don’t want do those upgrades using the existing Bambu hardware. Buy a power supply and tap into the power supply and the sky is the limit.
Print a sporty box for the power supply, put the power supply and fused terminal strip so you pop the fuse and not the printer.
It’s a free world but people on the boards generally are pretty helpful and when “Don’t do it” is the theme, it’s best to follow their advice or you can get on the board and say, like countless people before you, Guess what I printed today? The magic white smoke. Don’t make smoke.

That was appropriately polite. And I thank you.

And its also why I asked versus just try it. I read those warnings. And again, why I asked.

Just to share with others here, I am still considering getting the TH3D version. Its on sale right now about $4 less. But as an alternative. Not going to use both at the same time. I have the BTT and its an improvement. But I would like to do more. Don’t want to do another power supply. The TH3D spreads the light around from three sides with about the same amount of strip. So instead of the BTT, it might shed light from other sides better than the BTT in front. I’ll share if I do it.

Sharing is worthwhile, else why would we be here, eh? I do heed your warning about the consequences. And it was worth to me, your time pointing that out.

And just one more time, hopefully to show above average gratitude, thank you. Sincerely. Your comment is surely appreciated.

Perhaps when I’m writing a long email to Bambu support about "How about send me a new printer. We’ve been troubleshooting my exist printer for over 3 weeks is not the best to be replying to printer related questions.
I don’t want someone else to suffer this pain. My problem is a fault within the printer and not anything I did. :unamused:

Working on maximizing the LED Lights in my P1S.
I have three lights to work with

Factory
Big Tree Tech (BTT) for P1 purchased on Amazon for $10.
TH3D Studio for P1 purchased from TH3D for $10 plus shipping on sale from $15

The BTT Led attached with a magnet and comes with a connection expansion board.
The TH3D attached with 3M strips and does not include a connection expansion board. I followed the installation instructions on the TH3D’s website’s ad.

I took pictures. I started from scratch.
For each set of pictures, I had first only one then two led light plugged in. I used the expansion board that came with the BTT version. Description and file name tells you what it is. And there’s hints to confirm. You can see Factory light on or off on the left. You can see BTT Light on or off as it brightens or darkens the Toolhead cover. You can see the TH3D Light turned on up in the upper left corner above the Factory light.

A set of two pictures were taken first with door closed and second door open.

First Set, Factory Light only. (Can see Factory on, Toolhead cover dark, TH3D light off upper left corner).

Second Set, BTT Light only. (Can see Factory off, Toolhead cover bright, TH3D light off upper left corner).

Third Set, TH3D Light only. (Can see Factory off, Toolhead cover dark, TH3D light on upper left corner).

Fourth Set, Factory and BTT (Factory light on, Toolhead cover bright, light off upper left corner).

Fifth Set, Factory and TH3D (Factory light on, Toolhead cover dark, TH3D light on in upper left corner).

Sixth Set, BTT and TH3D (Factory off, Toolhead cover bright, TH3D light on upper left corner)

You be the judge of what you like best. To me, the differences are minor. But I like the Sixth Set and have left the Factory unplugged. I am using the BTT and TH3D Lights plugged into the BTT connection expansion board because it spreads the light around more evenly than any other combination.

I have one Bambu Power Hub - Two Barrels from 3dMachinist on Etsy.

Have had it running lights and Bento box for just over a year with no issues at all. Currently using a set of Cobb lights from Bambu (24v) that allows me to change warmth and brightness as well as some silly patterns on a riser. Runs the circumfrence of the printer. Works well and has a switch to turn on and off alI want, same for the Bento.

Box has as many hours as the printer, 1000, with no issues. costs more but worth it.
