I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this before but i’ve had a couple of tall prints now finish with the bed moving all the way to the bottom at the end of the print. This is fine but when i start another print the initial sequence still tries to drop the bed during start sequence which grinds the motor.
I’ve seen that too. Doesn’t seem to hurt anything, though.
hope not but over time it likely will, its pretty scary to hear
downloaded the newest update and now the bed ends at the bottom, and when you start the next print it tries to go lower which makes a sound like the belt skipping teeth on the gear
Yeah I would like to see them fix this as well. On a plus what your hearing that sounds like grinding is the noise step motors make when there past the torque there set to go. It technically should cause no harm. I used to think on other printers it was the belt skipping, but its the Torque to the stepping going past limit that makes that noise. So technically it should not harm the step motor, but I don’t like it either. I also feel it put unnecessary stress on belts etc etc.
This is not new behavior - you’ll see it when the print is taller than (from memory) about 200mm.
yeah I have soon this action as well I just move the bed up before I start the next print. it seem to want to move down a little before it restarts the home.
What @zardoz said. I Home the axes after any tall prints just so I don’t forget before the next print…
Going to have to start doing this myself . . . that was one scary sound >.< Def. needs addressed in the next FW update.
