I just tried to save a model mentioning the filament brand Elegoo (e.g., “I used Elegoo PLA for my print.”), but it was blocked because it contains the word “Lego”. This wasn’t an issue before, so I’m not sure when it started. The message suggests using the term “brick” instead, which doesn’t make sense in this context.
Watch Elegoo get sued and have to change their name.
I second this! Already submitted a ticket
It might take a while, but the more people report this the faster it will get fixed.
Definitely not ideal… Only issue with whitelisting it is people will start making eLEGOo brick sets
Ooh this is a ‘classic’ problem with text filters.
You can simply add a space to the word LEGO, like ‘LE GO’, and it gets accepted—so I doubt there’s any real advantage in trying to abuse Elegoo’s name.
im getting the same false positive without even mentioning elegoo and I cant seem to figure out whats triggering it, my model isn’t even remotely related to LEGO
Replied in other thread but it’s not a Legolas statue is it?
I created a support ticket. But I must not have been very thorough in explaining my issue. They just told me not to use the term LEGO. Hopefully I’m able to get my point across to them.
It is notable that LEGO has been specifically restricted, despite the platform appearing to tolerate the use of other brands and their associated intellectual property by users. Many companies adopt a more lenient approach, allowing fans to reproduce IP-protected content for non-commercial purposes, provided there is no sale or financial gain involved.
From what I understand, MakerWorld operates on a system where users receive points for downloads and published content, which can be exchanged for hardware or equipment. This effectively constitutes indirect monetization of intellectual property belonging to others.
It raises the question: what communication has taken place between LEGO and Bambu Lab regarding trademark enforcement, leading to the decision to block the use of LEGO-related terms on the platform?
Overly aggressive text filters often result in unintended consequences for legitimate users. A more balanced approach might be to flag potentially infringing uploads instead of outright blocking them. Bambu Lab could then review flagged items to determine whether the concern is valid, and take appropriate action based on that assessment.
Makers World. You need to fix this! ELEGOO does not equal “LEGO” just because it is part of its name. I just tried to push a design that I love and wanted to share when I got the error, “Use Brick not LEGO”. My design was a holder for ELEGOO’s Vacuum Sealer nothing to do with LEGO!
I’m having the same issue, it should take 2 minutes to ask ChatGPT for the correct regex and 1 minute to fix it. This is quite ridiculous.
Happened to me when I tried to edit the text in a previously existing Elegoo Calibration profile I made awhile back. Guess I won’t be adding the " I also can’t stress enough to dry your filament for 8 hours at 55°C before using it if you want consistently good prints." text I was planning to add, lol
