Build plate error

Help needed, i pulled a file down from MakerWorld to print.

I change setting to my X1 Carbon, change the build plate to the smooth pla plate, run the slicer and hit print.

Next I get the error message below.

The current build plate is not the same as in the G-Code. Please stop the print job and replace the build plate. You can also tap “Resume” to force-resume the print job. [0300 8011 10:56:20]

Question I have is how do I tell Studio to use the smooth pla Plate instead. I would have thought I just change it in the Prepare window and the software would automatically change it when it sliced it.

Thanks for the help

If you download from makerworld.com, they provide you with 3 options:

  1. download the STL file ( and then you tinker with your settings as you wish, obviously incurring the risk of screwing up the print process).

  2. download the 3mf file (this one usually has the designer’s print settings included, filament types and colors- obviously you can change those settings, print plate type, filament types, but why would you want to do that- it’s a better choice than the first one).

  3. open directly the desired file in your BL Studio- which preserves the best settings, yet allowing you to adapt some of them, based on your specific filament types (and colors).

I usually go for option 2, or else for option 3 (while I do keep a copy of the STL), at least until i test the print as the designer intended, and after noting his/her choice of settings and how it came out, i can play with them for further prints if necessary.

Yes. You need to change it here before slicing. If you change it in Prepare after slicing, it has no effect whatsoever and the print will likely fail.
