Maybe I missed it, but did not see a single enclosed build plate holder design with a cap or door for preventing dust from building up. When the winds kick up in the southwestern states, it’s amazing how much dust can collect in a single day.
Unless someone knows of one (anybody?), looks like I’ll have to come up with a design.
There are plenty of models available to choose from either on makerworld.com or on printables.com
There are open or enclosed, partially enclosed, under the desk, under the printer or under the AMS riser, on the side, high, low… your pick
If only you had a way to design and create your own closed box with slots…
Well, maybe someday.
OK, it could be challenging to create a box for 10" plates when you can only print on a 10" plate. Perhaps that’s why there are no closed holders?
Maybe try searching for a 12x12 storage container. There are a quite few sold for scrap booking.
11x14 envelopes, available in manila, white, or clear plastic?
My plates are kept in the open storage slots of my riser . Dust has not been a problem. They covered from above, and a quick wipe with an IPA dampened towel could clear any dust that might find its way in. That has not been necessary yet, even though I do occasionally create quite a bit of dust with woodworking projects.
Which are useless for what I’m looking for. Did you skip over the dust problem explanation in my OP? There’s a DEFINITE reason I’m wanting a fully enclosed holder. Suggesting models I’ve already looked at does not help, nor answer the issue.
Listen pal, when I’ve did you the favor of spending my time looking up for you the models/makes I came across that (possibly) could be suitable for your needs, I’ve also said very clearly that:
If you’re unable to do that, so sorry for you.
Now, instead of treating like sh1t those who have tried to help you out, get the fvck off your high horse and start making it yourself. Have fun.
I never know what shape my build plate was in when I put it in my stand, by the time I swap it out, I just wash it to make sure it’s good to go. But I don’t swap very often.
Whatever you want to do. I can point out when people ignore what I’ve said, treat me like I didn’t do what I said I did, and then reply like I obviously need help by showing me, in this case, everything I’ve already looked at.
Yeah, this would take a multipart print with connectors to combine the pieces like the AMS risers and other large objects. So not a easy, straightforward design.
Sure, but you can do that in multiple ways and choose how you would like to be perceived. Sure, it might be a bit frustrating to be pointed to models that do not fit your need that you had seen, but it wouldn’t hurt to be kind to people trying to help… Especially if you’re unable to design such niche item yourself.
