Build plate type not being honored when opening a 3mf - Solved!

Might just be user error, but I’ve noticed if I have a 3mf file open in Studio that has a certain type of build plate - let’s say cool plate, and I open a file that was saved with textured PEI as the build plate, the plates that should be textured PEI are set to cool plate instead.

It doesn’t seem to be honoring plate types in a 3mf unless they are manually set.

Anyone else noticed Studio doesn’t now honor build plate type? I’ve now started explicitly setting the build plates which works but is just something else to remember when opening files.

I just tried it and it is behaving as you’re describing. That is if I understand, and let’s admit…I have my moments.

I loaded a file and selected cool, saved, reopened. opened a file that is saved as textured and it stayed as a cool plate. Is that right?

I have to admit I really don’t know what to expect as I’ve always sliced files on same plate when multiple.

In the preferences, you find an option “Auto Plate Type”:

If on, it will always use your current plate type or the last one used. I.e., assume that you continue with the plate installation, which is mostly my case.
This is helpful when you want to print the file and are not worried about the print profile. I still remember how inconvenient it was when I opened a .3mf, which included the plate type, and I forgot to change it, resulting in extra work after 5 min.

If you prefer to use print profile info regarding the plate type, unselect it.
