By-Object Print & Color

I’m printing an assembly consisting of two parts. The main part is an emblem which has a 2mm lip around the edge. Inside that is a recessed space (2mm lower) where text is placed as a separate part. The text needs to print a different color than the main part.

Is there a way to set up the software to print the main part in its entirety, THEN print there text on top inside the recessed area. Currently, it wants to change filament in each of those layers because it wants to print the lip, then the text, then moves up to the next layer. There’s more than enough room to print separately in order to reduce filament changes. Doing it this way would only require one change. I’ve already set to print “by object” but maybe I don’t have them set as objects?

Welcome to the forum.

To my knowledge there is not currently a way to do what you want to do. Printing by object won’t allow you to print onto another object.

Thanks Jon. I assumed that was the case. Hopefully a feature to be added as I’ve found some other similar questions!
