Can I drag the printerhead by hand forward to clean the Lidar?

Yo mates,
Did the thorough maintenance such as described in the famous youtube video everybody here has seen.
However in the aftermath I keep getting the Lidar needs cleaning…

I have cleaned it with quetips and Isopropyl alcohol/IPA to no avail.
In fact I cleaned it so many times with Isopropyl Alcohol that I’m fearing my X1CC gone full Alcoholic and is craving another shot by calling me through the Dirty Lidar error messages?!?

What should I do to fix my Lidar?
AA is out of the question, since I have a broken back I’m not much of a carry the X1CC down the staircases of my apartment building, is there another option besides an intervention and the whole AA shebang?!?

Also I wonder is it OK or is it NOT OK to drag the printerheadboxthingie forward to get to the Lidar and clean it more efficient?

Sigh… any help appreciated mates!

When you have the machine turned off you can easily move the X and Y axis.

can be moved …but slow … and suggest to pull power cable as well.

How are the lighting conditions inside your print chamber? Are they relatively stock?

I ask this because your LIDAR issues could potentially be a false positive from over lumination, such as installing an aftermarket LED strip, or having really intense shop lights focused inside the chamber.

Hello Silverbullit,

here’s what I would try:
Make sure your build plate is clean and if you’re using the Textured PEI plate, just swap it for the Cool Plate just for this. Now start a quick print (anything really) but make sure Flow Calibration is on. Right at the beginning of the print (before the Lidar calibration) turn the chamber LED light off with the lightbulb button on the screen. Now throw a blanket or anything on the printer so the top glass plate and the front glass door are covered up. Wait until the actual model starts printing and the first layer is done scanning as well. Now remove the blanket and watch for error messages on the screen.

This is what I’d do to make sure that the scanner itself can function (at least in the perfect environment). If you get the same error messages now you know it’s not the pollution from the outside sabotaging the scan.

As for moving the printhead, you can do this with your hand slowly, when the printer is turned off.
Alternatively, you can move the printhead around with the buttons on the screen, when the printer is turned on and idle.
