Yes, you can, I do it all the time with mine.
Did you last print from it using a Bambu spool with RFID? Maybe it thinks it has that same spool in it, what happens if you load the generic filament as though you’re going to print from it? Just shooting from the hip here. ![]()
Failing that, what printer and firmware are you using? Is the Printer and AMS firmware are up to date? Have you tried to power cycle the printer and AMS just to be sure?
Hello, you’ll get that error if you load the filament before drying. As of yet the ability to print (and have filament loaded as well) while drying isn’t available. Soon though
In the meantime just drop the filament spool into the HT and close it. Don’t load the end as you would if printing with that spool. Using the screen set it as you have been doing and it will ask to rotate, then go on to drying.

Is that only third party filament? I’ve been able to dry Bambu filament while loaded, however thats with filament that has an RFID. I do toss TPU (no RIFD) filaments in them without loading. I have not tried non BL filament in there so that is why I am asking.
You know I’d never tried it loaded until recently. When it first came out you had to unload it so I never tried again until last night. This morning I tried it to confirm your issue and it gave the same error when using a 3rd party.
With that being said I would believe it to be only 3rd party. As long as it’s a decent quality filament you can run whatever brand you’d like in the AMS, or the HT

I was able to get around it by loading a Bambu Labs RFID spool of the same filament type (PETG), setup the drying parameters and when it got to the part where it says to unload filament for drying rotation I switched it out for the 3rd party (Elegoo) PETG. It then allowed me to start the drying process.
Yep, even Bambu TPU lacks RFID (at least the spools I have) and while I didn’t even try to load it in the inlet I did try to trick it with a length of filament that I use for testing resistance. That was when I realized TPU didn’t have the tag. I didn’t have the box or phone to look up drying times in the HT and spent more energy trying to trick it than just walking 20 ft to get the phone.
