I know that when printing ASA filament, it will produce VOCs. I don’t have an air purifier yet, so I was wondering if I can push the fumes outside with a fan. I know blowing extra air on the print could mess the print up, but if I pull the air away by facing the fan away from the printer, will that still mess prints up or should I be fine to set it up that way?
Hi @Breadin
Welcome to the forum.
Note, the VOCs are not manageable by only directing flow; In practical terms, you can filter them or reduce their concentration by renewing the air, e.g. fresh air within.
Both push or pull the air create forced air streams, but don’t need to be directed into the print, i.e., the flow and location are usually set to avoid interference with the printing process.
If you want to print ASA filaments and minimise the VOCs in the room air, you should start by thinking about enclosure; there are many methods, but you can look for DIY ones, such as BentoBox.
