Can I use the Bambu Spools to put other Filaments on

Ok, so crazy question. If I have an empty Bambu spool, can I put filament from another company on it? I have a couple of larger spools that were given to me, but they will not work in the AMS. I was thinking about using an empty Bambu spool to put the filament on, but I am a bit of a chicken and was afraid that it would not work.

Thoughts? Suggests?

TIA,

Michelle

Yes you can…

Yes, I usually drill a 2mm hole in the spool middle to hold the filament end and then use a simple drill adaptor to do the rewinding.

Yes, this is exactly how I do it. Pick the right filament and you have a working RFID code too

Yes but dont forget to take off the rfid tag. Otherwise the ams will read it as whatever filament is in the tag and you cant change that afterwards…

So lets say you wind petg on a pla spool with a pla tag… You’re screwd. If you take of the tag first you can manually set what filament it is.

Not if you use the spool with the same type of filament (and color if possible). It works and the advantage is that you still get the benefit of having the RFID let you know how much filament you’ve got left on your spool.
