Can’t Slice a bowl from blender 😡

I just received my X1 Carbon with AMS. I’ve been trying to slice a model containing a bowl shape. Try as I may the bowl will not slice as an open object as you’d expect. It’s been converted to a mesh but I can’t seem to get rid of the error saying there are open edges or something like that.

I’m on a Mac but I have a copy of parallels so I downloaded the Windows version of BStudio to try its model fixing function but that didn’t seem to help. I’ve also used the fixing function found in the 3d-Printer Tab found on the right-hand side bar that shows when a mesh object is selected. It hasn’t helped either.

Please any one have any ideas? Thanks……

Where did you get the STL?

STLs can be corrupted in ways that still look “good” from a pure-geometry perspective.

You want help, you need to post more details. Ideally, the STL itself. If not, some pictures of the model and how it looks after slicing. Need a bit more to go on…

Hey… I was not home last night when I posted this question.

So how can I upload a copy of my model? I see where I can post a pict but it wont let me chose my STL. Sorry for my ignorance.

I’ve created a simple bowl and ring object with Blender’s Screw modifier.

Below are pics of my models loaded into Studio both before and after slicing. You can see how once there are sliced what was open in the center is loaded with infill.

Disclaimer: I don’t use Blender for modelling

I’m guessing this is a Blender issue, but maybe check that by trying a different slicer. Have you made sure the objects you’re exporting from Blender as STLs have thickness? I think Blender’s thickening tool is called “Solidify”? Also, if issue persists, you could use a boolean operation to ensure there’s no self-intersecting geometry, as described in this video.

the 3DPrint Toolbox won’t ‘really’ autofix problems with a mesh.
