Can the P1P WIFI be improved?

I just wasted half a day because my P1P suddenly stopped accepting print jobs send from Bambu Studio. (I run in LAN only mode).

First, the error message is that the IP address or password is not correct and it sends the user down the wrong path.
It is obviously wrong given that the printer status was showing just fine on the device page.

Next, I discovered that the network log is no longer a text file so I could not see what was happening.

I did finally track it down to a very high latency to the printer (>900msec).
I have not changed anything in my network in the last six months.
My printer is only about 12’ from my router in the next room.
Scanning the 2.4 ghz band, there were no other devices on the same channel and the signal strength was fine.

I finally moved the router to be next to the printer and now it works. The latency is still ridiculous.
Ping statistics for 192.168.133.94:
Packets: Sent = 20, Received = 20, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 3ms, Maximum = 309ms, Average = 47ms

Is there any way to improve the WIFI?
Can the antenna be changed or moved?

Kudos for going through the troubleshooting steps you already did.

To answer one of your questions, yes, it is possible to swap out the antenna and not really that hard. Any I-PEX MHF 4connector antenna will work.

They can be readily had off of Amazon or Ali express, here’s the search term.

Here’s one example, it will cost you less than $10 to find out but you can always return it.

But if you suspect latency to be your nemesis and I would certainly say that’s a good theory, I don’t believe the antennae will change latency. Or at least in my experience with Wi-Fi installations we never checked latency, only signal strength. Latency is a different matter altogether and where I would first ty to rule out is that your Wi-Fi to LAN interface is sound. Can you ping other Wi-Fi devices on your LAN and do they display similar issues?

Also, do you by chance use a router managed by your ISP such as an EERO? If you do, then they frequently change the firmware on your gateway without permission.

However, it should also be noted that we are all having issues with LAN-only mode after upgrading to 1.04, 1.05 is even worse. Do a search here to see some of the reports.

To add insult to injury, if you were running 1.03 which was the last LAN-only stable, you can no longer roll it back prior to 1.04. :slightly_frowning_face: Wasn’t that nice of them?

Isn’t it odd coincidence though that 1.03 was pre-Makerworld and now that Makerworld is their new love child, we are all being subtly forced into using it. Call me Tinfoil Hat Co. but it feels oddly coincidental that the troubles occurred right as they were writing hooks to support Makerworld only available with 1.04 and coincidentally, one can’t use it to its fullest if in LAN-only mode. Now of course, LAN-only mode may have been deprecated through willful neglect and support. Coincidence or not? You be the judge, but Bambu’s deafening silence on the subject and the large number of complaints speak volumes.
