Can X2D support 0.2mm Main and 0.4mm Aux nozzle?

Is it possible to print 0.2 mm on main nozzle and 0.4 mm on Aux nozzle?

If X2D cannot do, Is this hardware limited?

The printer can physically do this but the slicing software is currently the limiting factor.

Are you going to do something about that? This is quite annoying as I bough this printer to have possibility to print 0.2 mm and have support PLA which is possible only from 0.4 mm.

My friend is H2D owner, he can do that. However I’m poor people, I cannot buy H2D so I hope I can use same on X2D. What I can do? Maybe I post every day :slight_smile: => Spam => They may block to me.

Is there any way around this problem? I have a feeling that they will not change it because sale of H2D would fall… Maybe I should return the printer. There is still time for me.

Are you sure? I thought no BL printer could mix different diameter hotends.

He is not use global version. He use china version. I will ask him and reply you soon. I’m not sure about his machine

No, the stock slicer won’t let you mix nozzle sizes like a 0.2mm and 0.4mm out of the box whether it is X2D, H2D OR A ANY2D. However, you can trick the slicer on the X2D or H2S by lying to it about the hardware and manually shifting your settings.

It is not as simple as just swapping line widths. If you tell the slicer it’s a 0.2mm nozzle but you are physically pushing plastic through a 0.4mm or 0.6mm nozzle, you have to completely re-tune the printer. You might get away with basic line width tweaks if you are only doing it for breakaway supports, but for quality part production, it takes a lot more work.

I actually run a highly customized setup like this on my own X2D. I have dual manually adjusted profiles dialed in so one side acts as a 0.2mm for fine work, small text, and multi-color logo details, while my main side runs a 0.6mm High Flow nozzle for fast infill and structural bulk. It allows for high-detail accenting without the massive time penalty of a full 0.2mm print

Getting clean results requires a heavily tuned profile. It is not a “one-size-fits-all” solution and forces you to manually adjust dozens of variables across the Quality, Speed, and Strength tabs to balance the flow dynamics and pressure differences between the two sizes. if your using your other nozzle (0.4mm) just for supports you could probably get away with just a few adjustments (line width, Flow, possibly some filament tweaks if using multi material interface supports resulting in a succesful print

Allegedly, Orca Slicer supports this in the Version 2.2.0-Beta. I have not tried this, but it may be a possibility if you don’t mind LAN-Only mode.

When the H2D was launched last year, the Bambu Lab CEO was interviewed and asked if two different nozzle sizes could be used at the same time.

CEO Dr. Ye Tao, replied the printer was capable of it, yet the Bambu Studio slicer wasn’t capable and they were working on the feature.

The feature has not been added.

This is the interview keyed to the correct position showing his response.

Interestingly, Creality have had this feature built into their slicer since 2024.

For clarification, the comments for the H2D, are the same for all of Bambu Lab printers with more than one nozzle.

The SnapMaker U1 (tool changer), does support multiple nozzles, although this isn’t achieved through the official slicer, it uses a custom OrcaSlicer build.

I have received reply from the Bambu Lab Customer Support and the main message is that they do not work on that but if more users would like have such feature included in the software, they will introduce appropriate changes.

So, whoever is interested, please, please open a ticket requesting feature of having possibility to print on two nozzles of different sizes at the same time. You can do it from your account level where you go to service center and describe the issue. You can use my text (in italics):

I wanted to print a model using 0.2 mm nozzle and use 0.4 mm for support material for PLA (New Version) and the physical printer accepts such setup. Unfortunately the Bambu Studio does not.

I must say that this is a very disappointing discovery as I have chosen this printer to have this possibility. I am now forced to print models using only one 0.2 mm nozzle and for that I could buy another printer and not buy your support material.

Could you please help me with this issue?

Dear Bambu Lab 3D printer user,

I’m very sorry. Currently, we do not support printing with two different-sized nozzles. Some users use the auxiliary nozzle not only for printing supports but also for printing the actual model itself. If two nozzles of different diameters are used for printing, it may cause very serious printing quality issues.

Currently, we do not have any plans to introduce the use of different diameter nozzles in combination. However, I have already forwarded your feedback to the R&D team and the software team. If there are indeed more users expressing such a need or if this suggestion is highly valuable, we will release new firmware and software versions in the future to update this feature.
