I am trying to create a mould by inserting a negative part into a block and then splitting the block in half.
Is it possible to reduce the opacity of the block so that I can see where I am placing the negative component?
Recent versions of BS and Orca have an opacity slider in the color picker. I just did a real quick test and what you want seems to be there.
I cannot find it. Are you talking about the filament colour picker? I went into Painting and I cannot see anything about transparency?
Yes. Here’s the default one on macOS:
I think that opacity thing was added in 1.8. What slicer version are you running?
That must be the problem, I am using PC and there is no opacity slider… BUT I have found a way of doing it. I have 2 components the block being my casting block and the other component I make negative. You have to be in assembly mode and have the block on the plate first them add a part being the second component then you can move it through the Z-axis without it snapping to the build plate. Now go to the Assembly panel and click the tick off on the assembly and both components become transparent. You can now move the negative component where you want it and then slice the block with connectors… Voila…
Isn’t it the “solid”? I am not at PC right now, but maybe someone can check if this can be changed to make it more transparent.
nah you cant kinda frustrating to be honest
WTH!?!?!? Don’t go giving features to Mac and not other OS’s!
Opacity has been Mac OS for a long time, it’s an operating system feature. BambuStudio just uses the default color picker dialogues in the OS it’s running on.
Microsoft needs a few more decades to catch on
if you are using a Bambu PETG Translucent filament the slicer auto assigns that color and makes it translucent in Windows too.
It seems that you have to have a physical spool of it and select in in the filament slots. If you just select transparent PETG, you still get a solid effect.
