Canceling a print

Is it standard for a P1S to continue doing everything prior to pushing filament.
I’ve canceled some prints because I see something not right, just various things and have canceled the print. No big deal.
But the printer will march on doing bed leveling and all the various processes prior to extruding filament. Once it gets to that point it will run back to its parked position by the purge chute.
Is that right?
It seem like a prime way to damage a printer that doesn’t stop when I say stop.

Unfortunately that’s normal. 3D printers are very sequential/linear when it comes to the commands they run. They cannot accept new commands until the current one has completed. Where this is probably the most noticeable is when the G29 bed leveling command is running. It takes a while to complete and you can’t stop the printer outside of powering it off via the power switch.

That may be so but I suspect they didn’t see a need rather than “it can’t be done”.

If they can pop up a confirmation window asking me “Do you really want to cancel print” in the middle of that process and I click yes, they can step over that logic and stop the machine in its tracks.
It is no different than all those HMS faults that stop the printer cold.
It just means they didn’t put a relay in tandem with a YES click command.
