I am trying to print this piece.
For some reason it has a support that has no purpose, it is supporting itself (the long leg on the right). I already tried to paint that area red, but it makes no difference.
What should i do differently?
Have you tried checking the “On build plate only” check box in the Supports tab?
In regards to painting areas to not support. You need to paint the area that the support is generating for (the overhangs) not where the support is generating from.

- The supports I need for this model would not touch the build plate - they are for the overhang, as shown.
- Painting that the support is generating for (top of it) rather than what is sitting on (bottom) makes sense, however that particular piece of my support doesn’t seem to support anything! it is supporting itself.
Try changing from default to snug support.
Have you made sure the supports are set to manual only?
I had one part do this to me even on snug and I had to change the base pattern spacing to fix it.
