Cannot load filament into tool head

I have removed and checked the extruder and hall sensor. There is no filament stuck anywhere. I tried loading from all four slots of the ams and the filament reaches the tool head but goes no further. The ams just unloads and then tries to reload about 4 times before I get an overload message. I tried loading from the back spool (ams removed) and kept getting a message to load filament. In desperation I literally pushed the filament with my hand into the extruder there was quit a bit of resistance before I got it in and the print went ahead normally.

Thinking great problem solved I again tried to print another file from the rear spool no go until I again pushed the filament with my hands overcoming that resistance again and bingo it printed perfectly.

I have no idea why there is resistance at the tool head as I can feed it through the whole assembly when it is removed from the printer. I gave up and ordered a full extruder assembly from Bambu hopefully that’ll fix the issue.

could be nozzle temperature too low.

The nozzle temperature was 250 degrees

could it be that your filament sensor is stuck, it thinks there is filament inside but there isn’t and it tries to unstick the sensor by pushing the already loaded filament inside but bc the sensor is stuck it is unable to. You can try unsticking it. Attached entry with a similar problem

How do you know it was 250 degrees?

Remove the PTFE tube from the top of the extruder and cut about 10mm off the end. Be sure to use a cut tool or cut it straight. Reinsert the tube and try that.

Because cthat is what I set it to using the Panda Touch

Thanks for your reply … I checked the sensor lever it was working as normal and is fitted correctly.

but that is the indicated temperature, not necessarily the actual temperature. I’m not saying that that is the problem, just that you need to eliminate things that you know are OK. if you raise the temperature, does your hand pushing of filament get easier, for example? Do you know how hard you should need to push? Is there debris clogging the feed gears. Have you been using abrasive/filled filaments, without the hardened gears, etc.? have you done a cold pull to ensure there is no sludge in the nozzle? Is the cut-off knife fully retracted? Is it Ok with other filaments?

@cathy.steve02 , did you ever resolve? I am getting the same issue. Usually, at the start of a print or first time using a color in a print. Often if I manually unload and create a fresh angled cut on the filament, it will load correctly.

Sometimes if I prehead the nozzle to 250+ and let it ooze for a little bit, the filament will load correctly

Sometimes, I try and time the load and put some additional pressure on the filament to try and get it to force into the extruder … but I am always scared i am going to snap off the filament or cause some other issue when i do this.

usually, once things are moving… no problems. but this is a real pain in the butt … especially as I am trying to get my kids to do more of their printing on their own.

I ended up replacing the filament sensor and it worked flawlessly after that
