Can't get PETG to stick to JUUPINE holographic build plate

My son bought me JUUPINE holographic build plate for Christmas to put in my X1C.

PLA prints on it just fine.

But PETG won’t stick at all, although the plate is advertised as supporting it. I googled suggestion on how to solve this:

  • Good scrubbing with dish soap and water, wipe with microfiber cloth
  • Raising heatbed temperature from 70 to 80
  • Isopropyl alcohol

The one suggestion I didn’t try was glue stick since I don’t have one and it seems like that would just clog the microscopic grooves.

Any other suggestions?

P.S. I of course suspected the printer and the filament. But I can print PETG just fine to my other plates.

I raised the bed temp to 90, and it seems to be working for a simple test.

Ok, 90 helped with a simple sample circle. Then I tried to print something more complex, and it failed. Some of the melted filament creates a glob on the nozzle, and that builds up and turns into a wiper, pulling filament off the bed.

I have tried raising the temperature more, but I think above 100C, the adhesion gets worse.

For me I just set as smooth pei in slicer and it works. I spray 3d lac and it does not clog, also helps adhesion greatly. But for me smooth pei is best. I’ve tried all.

Unfortunately I can’t buy 3dlac outside of Europe.

Anyhow, it’s just this one holographic plate. I can print PLA on that plate and PETG on all my other plates. But this one plate can’t handle PETG.

BTW, this is the plate:

Im in Canada and can get it somehow

Can you get Vision Miner Nano? It is amazing. Never had a print lift with it from any plate - even high warp filaments like ABS and nylon

“Vision Miner Nano”

I just ordered some. Thanks for the suggestion!

Did this ever work out for you? Excited to hear about it. I’ve been having a hell of a time getting even PLA to stick to the holographic plates… seems if I give a GOOD scrub with IPA it’s better, but still not 100%. I’ve tried heating the bed, but that didn’t seem to help, I’m at 35c right now and it’s working… mostly! Wondering if you use some sort of adhesive if you still get the holographic transfer.

So I have used these a LOT with no adhesives necessary.

CLEAN IT WELL. It will stick better and the pattern will transfer better. ZERO finger prints.

Run the first layer at 10MM/s and it sticks like stank.

Hope this helps. I have hundreds of prints on these types and I have specifically Juupine plates lately because of their sale prices. I hope you have better luck!

Thanks👍 This info, specifically looking for this to solve my problems with anything sticking. I’ve skipped using IPA and just go straight to using 70%+ (100% now, artsy painters 70+ish before) Acetone. It skips having to wash with soaps, and does IPA’s job better than IPA. I never wanted to use any glue, and some old OG’s had once said use acetone, but for some reason all have moved away from it. I have yet to destroy or ruin any build plate using it. I say this because I was having no luck with IPA and dish soap, and as a last resort tried acetone. Just magic. But speed, gotta remember that one. Thanks👍
