Cant load new filament mid-print

For the first time I ran out of filament while printing. .

The new filament (same colour type and manufacturer) was then loaded by me, but the extruder wouldn’t grab it and it didn’t even try!
Also, I couldn’t use the menu system to load new filament as the printer was ‘busy’. The nozzle was maintaining temperature at 250c for PLA.
I appeared to be stuck in a loop.

I ended up having to abort the print (75% through a 5 hour print) and attempt to start again but the mini’s screen response was super slow all of a sudden and even after abandoning the print it wouldn’t even start the filament load process (The screen was present but nothing was happening).

I ended up having to power cycle the printer and then it behaved normally and loaded the filament first try with no problems.

The printer less than a week old, been faultless and has 104 hours of print time.

What should have happened / what should I have done mid-print?

Thanks for the reply but I don’t’ have an AMS so there is no such link for me there.
If you mean the HMS link, then I tried that and it was suggesting things that we not happening (Stuck filaments, extruder gear issues etc)

Appears to have been a random glitch as I just ran out again mid-print and then the re-load of the new filament happened as you’d expect and the print continued.

I’m not using an AMS and I’m still on the latest firmware (1.0.8)

I previously thought it was random, but it’s happened again and had to finish the print in Bambu Studio as the printers screen was non responsive.
I’ve since rolled back to 1.07 firmware which I understand doesn’t have that problem but is slow to respond to screen presses. Guess you can’t have everything :stuck_out_tongue:
