Can't log in to community forum from that IP address

I have started to get a message “You can’t log in from that IP address” - kept trying and it eventually my login was accepted - hence this post.
My IP address is the same as it always was - anyone else getting this message on login?

Yesterday the forum was hit with a bunch of spam bot accounts which had to be removed and blocked. It’s possible that one of the IP’s they used conflicted with your IP. Were you able to recorder the IP that you had issues using? If you DM me I can check the forum logs.

is DM different to this reply?
If I use a VPN (UK) I can log in - without the VPN I can’t log in.
I use a 4g router which tends to change ip address based on the whims of the service provider - the router gets turned off at night and can be allocated a new ip on restart.
Many companies such as eBay and Amazon constantly falsely message me to say a new device is using my account

I just turned my router off for a minute and when it restarted it my ip had changed again and login is now OK = thanks for your reply

The VPN will make you appear to be coming from a different IP because in a way you really are. They hide your true origin from places you visit.

Without the VPN you are possibly getting painted with the same brush as other customers of your ISP. If enough other customers are doing bad things your ISP can end up on block lists. That can keep you from being able to do any number of other things because the IP address block you’re coming from has a bad reputation.

currently I have to use a USA VPN login - every UK ip seems blocked
